This Spanish island suits your zodiac sign best

By

Do you also find it so gray and raw? It seems like it could rain at any moment and the word sun? That’s not in my agenda for a long time. So there’s a good chance that you, just like me, are already daydreaming about the warm sun on your skin and sipping a cocktail on a terrace that’s just a bit too expensive. That indicates that you… are ready for a getaway. To a place where you can leave your coat at home and it’s above 20 degrees in May. You don’t have to fly for 15 hours, you know, Spain? There you have amazing islands. But yes, which one will you choose? Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, they all sound like a good idea. If you can’t see the sand through the beach umbrellas, you can make the decision by looking at your zodiac sign. That’s how you find the place that really suits you. Read on, because this Spanish island is your perfect match.

Aries

1. Aries: Ibiza

As an Aries, you are fiery. You have a lot of energy and are always up for an adventure. You prefer to travel like Lara Croft through ancient civilizations and see every jungle on earth. You are not made to ‘start slowly’. You want to feel alive from the moment you land. That’s why Ibiza is a good idea for you. This fits perfectly with your pace. You can relax on a sunbed, but you can also definitely experience a lot. Spot flamingos at Experimental Beach and visit the small village of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera with all those colorful houses, for example. Or stroll in one of the oldest cities in Europe, Dalt Vila. With all those white buildings with blue details, it feels just like you’ve landed in Mamma Mia! a postcard. On a jeep safari? That’s possible. By boat to Formentera? You can do it all here.

’In the evenings, you go from beach club to beach club, where loud music plays. People walk past you everywhere and you dance the night away. Spontaneity? You have that here and that’s exactly why Ibiza could be your next vacation destination.

2. Taurus: Mallorca

I say three things: luxury, comfort, and enjoying life. Tauruses are true hedonists. You love a candlelit dinner and a really good wine. Not one that you score for €10 at the Jumbo, but one that is at least ten years old and has a richer history than your family. Your vacation must be good. Not just fine or cozy, but perfectly arranged. That’s why Mallorca is your place to be. Here you have hotels that are so beautiful that De White Lotus they could be featured. That’s something for you.

In Mallorca, you don’t have to step in the mud for a safari, but you walk in your sandals along boulevards with shops. You walk through charming villages and can experience the most beautiful hikes with the green hills and small bays you pass by. And that beach? It has crystal clear water and it’s not overcrowded with tourists. Your days here consist of having breakfast in the sun, taking a dip in a hidden cave, and ending with a long evening dining with culinary delights. Perfect for the Taurus who can finally relax and realizes how life should be.

Gemini

3. Gemini: Gran Canaria

Boredom? That’s a familiar word in your vocabulary. As a Gemini, you need to experience things for two: you need more excitement, more adventure, and especially no repetitions. A resort vacation where you do the same thing every day is really not for you. Gran Canaria understands that. This island is literally multiple worlds in one. You have vibrant cities, lively beaches, mountains, nature, and even almost desert-like landscapes. So there’s literally something new to experience every day. Go from city to city, choose a day to hike in nature, go mountain climbing, and book a tour through Dunas de Maspalomas. This nature reserve with all those sand dunes is compared to the Sahara for a reason: you have to see this.

The vibe is social, open, and always in motion. You will naturally meet new friends here. Because you visit a different place every day, you get a glimpse into the local life on this island and can soak up a lot of culture. This doesn’t give you choice stress, but rather freedom. You don’t have to chain yourself to one vacation: you have 5 mini-vacations in 5 days. Do you want a big playground? Then you get it.

4. Cancer: Menorca

Mallorca? No, Menorca. It looks similar, but it’s just a bit different. While Mallorca is a lot larger, Menorca is really smaller. Here you come more for the peace and all the greenery. That’s perfect for you, because a Cancer doesn’t want any fuss. Just knowing that you are safe and have a place to land is already good. This island radiates a gentle energy that you feel immediately. No mass tourism, but a place where you can think.

Think of hours of walking without encountering anyone. You do that in the nature reserve Parc Natural de s’Albufera des Grau. That long name doesn’t surprise me, because this is an area that truly impresses. Historical towns with yellow buildings, palm trees wherever you look, and such an atmosphere that you feel like you are walking in a postcard. Maó and Cala en Turqueta are real hotspots that you definitely need to see. This fits nicely within your calm planning.

Leo

5. Leo: Tenerife

Tenerife. That’s where I’ve always wanted to go. Not because I know it, but because almost everyone has been there at least once. Oh, you haven’t, Leo? Then I’ll change that. If you want to feel alive and be the center of everything, then Tenerife is the place for you. This is a large, outspoken place full of breathtaking locations that have main character energy. Volcanic landscapes? They are there. Luxury resorts? They are there. A place where you can literally look above the clouds? That’s there too. When you drive to Pico del Teide, the volcano, you can see the most beautiful sunsets ever.

The volcano and the Masca valley are beautiful, but after all those ‘oh's’ and ‘ah's’, you can definitely experience even more. Like admiring the banana plantations as you drive through the mountains to your hotel. Stop by the mountain village of Garachico, where it seems like time has stood still. After travels you will never forget, you will be pampered in your five-star resort like royalty. If that doesn’t give you the feeling that you have the lead role, then I don’t know what will.

6. Virgo: La Palma

Just like a Taurus, you want peace. No stimuli for a while, but a clear plan. You prefer to choose a vacation that feels calm. One where hotels and outings are already arranged and you are picked up from the airport. You find that peace in La Palma. On this island, you can wander through (active) volcanic areas that feel like centuries. With a guide, of course, so they can tell you everything and you arrive safely back at your hotel at the end of the day.

La Palma is such a destination where you really forget everything in the world. When you walk through the millions of years old laurisilva forest. Or when you pass those red-colored rock walls when you go to Playa de Nogales. Before you know it, your fingers are touching rocks that are older than all of the Netherlands and hours have passed. So yes: here you will find the calm you were looking for.

7. Libra: Formentera

With you, everything is, logically, in balance. You are not someone who swings through the jungle like Tarzan, but also not someone who just lies by the pool. You want a bit of both. You will find that on the least populated island of the Spanish region of Balearic Islands: Formentera. Here you have nice restaurants, good beach clubs, and a nightlife scene like you know it from Ibiza, and you have enough quiet bays like in Mallorca. This paradise with white beaches and palm trees is definitely a good idea to escape to for a while.

Villages with stone steps, terraces where only Spanish-speaking people sit who don’t know what Amsterdam is, without tourists? Bingo. As I said, you have a perfect balance between those typical vacation things and a real local experience.

8. Scorpio: Lanzarote

A mysterious, dark place is something Scorpios are attracted to like bees to flowers. You want passion. Something dark with more depth than a beach full of tourists. Historical places with good stories, a nature reserve that tells a story, really those places that you feel. That’s just 4 hours and 20 minutes away from our country: Lanzarote.

This volcanic island has enough rugged rocks and black lava fields that tell you a story. The craters and bare, gray mountains when you walk to Caldera Blanca give you the feeling that you are walking on the moon. You will definitely find an impressive place here. You can even visit dromedaries in the Timanfaya area. The hidden caves in Los Hervideros and Playa del Papagayo are also areas that make you think about the big philosophical questions in life. Ideal for you.

Sagittarius

9. Sagittarius: Fuerteventura

What does a Sagittarius daydream about? About space and freedom. With all that zest for life you have, I understand that. For you, a vacation without a busy schedule is number one. A trip where you fly to and see where the ship lands. That can be in Fuerteventura. There you book one night a boat experience in Corralejo where you sleep under the stars. The next day you learn to surf and relax on the beach. Do you want to set up a tent to sleep there? That’s possible. The next night you sleep in a villa in the quiet village of Lajares with a pool. Go from left to right and from top to bottom: you really won’t get bored here.

Go take care of turtles or visit a goat farm. Hike on the volcano and in the evening take a night photography course with Stars by Night. Fuerteventura lets you live like a cat with nine lives with all that you can experience here.

10. Capricorn: La Gomera

Hey, Capricorn. You don’t want superficial hotspots, do you? You want reliability: something that feels real. Just structure and something realistic. No restaurant with a menu three kilometers long and five ‘Instagram-worthy spots’, but a local eatery where you get Spanish specialties. Then you shouldn’t go to Ibiza or Mallorca, but to La Gomera. This volcanic island is not that popular, but that makes it even better. Here you won’t drown in people wanting to see the same volcano. Just like in La Palma, you find forests that are millions of years old. Plenty of places to hike through nature, with those mountains and all that greenery. You can even spot whales off the coast.

The Garajonay National Park is a must according to locals. Here you see plants that are older than the Middle Ages. You’ll take pictures here that no one else has. Not so much into nature? Then you can also just go from city to city. Or visit a vineyard that no one has ever heard of. The family business Viños de Niray in Alajeró is not a million-dollar company, but a family with a passion for wine.

11. Aquarius: El Hierro

Just like Capricorn, you don’t want anything mainstream. No Ibiza where your friends have been ten times. Just give you an unknown island like El Hierro. Because let’s be honest: have you ever heard of it? I haven’t. This young island has only existed for 1 million years and is thus the younger brother of all the surrounding islands. Bring your diving goggles when you go, because diving is a sport that is widely practiced here. You want to see those underwater landscapes. El Hierro is a small island that still has everything you need. Supermarkets, shops, steep cliffs to jump off, pools, panoramas, forests, oh and of course restaurants.

Want more excitement? Then you can also go paragliding. Through the mountains, while enjoying the whole island. This island is popular among extreme sports enthusiasts. You can swim in open water at Orchilla and Mar de las Calmas. Trail running happens on the route from Sabinosa, mountain biking is done on the 78-kilometer bike route from Valverde to the viewpoint of Bascos. In short: daredevils, take your win.

Fish

12. Pisces: La Graciosa

A Pisces always wants to escape reality. You want a dream. An all-package deal with beautiful areas without paved roads, no annoying cars honking in your ears, and a place where you can just hear the sea flowing on a towel. La Graciosa is an ideal candidate for that. This is one of the last places in Europe where there are no good roads. Here you have the ultimate nature experience with secluded beaches and paths where Spanish ancestors have walked before you.

With a bike, you can reach every hidden corner of this small island. Imagine paths that must be taken without detours? That’s here. And just like in El Hierro, you can see a lot of sea life here. Here you have the largest marine reserve in Europe: Marina del Archipiélago Chinijo. Just looking at seaweed, 304 different species have been found here. That says enough about how much marine life is here. But good, even if you just want to walk through the city or lie on the beach, that’s also possible. Step out of your comfort zone and book this unique trip. That’s something different than Mallorca, right?
