This is how you make your garden easy and quickly ready for spring

Yes! Spring has sprung. Today is the very first day of spring and that means going outside. Because especially if you've seen the weather forecasts, you want to be in just one place this weekend when you're at home: your outdoor paradise.
That's right, your garden, terrace, or balcony. And if it still looks like January while you're mentally already sitting on an Aperol Spritz on your terrace, I've gathered the easiest, quickest, and super affordable styling tips for you so that your garden is completely ready for spring and summer in no time this weekend.
Good news: you really don't need to do a half renovation to make your garden spring-proof. With a few clever styling tricks, it already feels like you've created a completely new outdoor space. Less work, more effect. Exactly how we want it, right?
Start with a quick reset
Before you go all out with styling, first take care of the basics. And no, this doesn't mean you have to block a weekend with a pressure washer.
Think:
- Just sweep
- Dead plants away
- Discreetly say goodbye to cushions that didn't survive the winter.
It doesn't have to be more than that. Think of it as a mini glow-up for your garden. You don't need a makeover, just a fresh start.
Outdoor cushions: your quick win
If there's one thing that makes an immediate difference, it's outdoor cushions. Seriously, this is the cheat code of garden styling.
Go for:
- Colors like olive green, butter yellow, brown, beige, or burgundy prints
- Prints (stripes = always good)
- Different sizes to make it a bit more playful
One large statement pot scores 10/10
Forget ten small fiddly plants. Go for one large pot with impact.
Think of:
- An olive tree
- A lemon plant
- Or just a large green plant that looks like you know what you're doing
A vase on the table (yes, also outside)
This is one that is often forgotten, but really does everything.
Just put a vase on the table with:
- Fresh flowers
- Or a few branches
- Or my personal favorite: a bunch of fake flowers. They survive all kinds of weather conditions from now until somewhere far in September
Shop a nice outdoor rug
Of course, a fresh outdoor rug. In other words, one of the easiest ways to immediately add a lot more atmosphere (and hide those green tiles underneath). It makes your garden cozier right away, whether you have a lounge area or just want some extra color for your terrace.
Choose:
- A boho-like print for an island vibe
- Neutral tones for a more Japandi style
- Or a retro pattern if you want to spice things up a bit
A lighting plan
If you want one thing that makes your garden look magical in the evening: a string of lights or a statement lamp. This is really the shortcut to atmosphere.
A mirror or outdoor poster
This is one of those styling tricks that people often forget, but it really makes a difference. A bare fence? Perfect canvas.
Go for:
- A large mirror (makes your garden look bigger right away)
- A rattan or vintage look for extra atmosphere
- Or an outdoor poster with a cool quote or arty print
It immediately feels more like a real space instead of “just outside”. And yes, also a bit like you are an interior stylist.
Less effort, more atmosphere then
The secret of a spring-ready garden? Not working harder, but styling smarter. You don't need green fingers or to buy a completely new garden set. With a few fresh cushions, a good pot, and something new on your floor or wall, you can already go surprisingly far.
