Gucci-spectacle
When you think of Los Angeles you probably think of wealthy ladies full of Botox (or don’t you watch ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’?) and all equally superficial. Then you’ve probably never been. Los Angeles is the new fashion capital of the world. Hedi Slimane flew his Saint Laurent colleagues in from Paris, because the inspiration is there, on the west coast.
According to Dirk Kikstra my HNTM jury colleague who lived there for years, there are more museums in LA than Starbucks in New York. And where museums are, Frida Giannini may be found.
The Gucci-designer finds it important to give back to the world. Like the ‘Gucci Chime for Change’ campaign whereby influential women collect money and then pass it on to women who are less fortunate than us in the western world. Beyoncé gave a concert in London and the profits, big ones, went to Chime for Change.
This weekend Frida flew from her hometown Rome to LA to host an evening at the LACMA; the Los Angeles Museum of Art. The goal is to bring art and film a little closer. Both Barbara Kruger and Quentin Tarantino were honoured during the evening. And loads of VIPs came to the event. Loads of VIPs. All dressed in Gucci of course. Because that red carpet was crying out for it.
