You have types that already give their autumn- and winter wardrobes a total overhaul and update in July. They can’t wear the items for a while, but they buy it anyway, just in case they’re already sold out by the time they feel like wearing them…Well… I am not that kind of girl.

Firstly because I really hate the cold and so I try to postpone wearing thick hide-all clothes for as long as possible. Pantyhose are a necessary evil. I only cover up my bare legs when it absolutely is no longer possible to walk around outside. And I’d much rather have my toes freeze off that wear a pair of knee highs. Besides most of my collection is made up of between seasons clothing.

I only start thinking about the cold towards the end of October, beginning of November and then I being with an update of my wardrobe. The main benefits of starting to buy later in the season are, in my case, that I can create a more definite look, have already lets the trends sink in and am less likely to be tempted by impulse buys.

Voilà, this is my list for the coming winter

1.

First and foremost a (fun) fur lined army-green parka. Hip length and with a hood of course. I was planning to buy one last year but I’ve only just found the perfect example (at Buize in the Cornelis Schuytstraat and Centre Neuf in the Utrechtsestraat).

2.

A large woollen, preferably cashmere wrap. Type poncho. Not that I don’t already have one but it’s time for an actual colour.

3.

Classic grey and camel polo neck. Sorry but again I prefer cashmere. I saw a lovely grey thing at &Other Stories.

4.

A fresh pair of skinny jeans that I can wear with my boots and combine nicely with oversized thick sweaters.

5.

A knitted dress from the collection at The Row, the one with the huge neck fold. Or actually just everything from the collection. Buy one at Azurro Due in the PC Hooftstraat or on NetaPorter.com.

 6.

Fur booties from Isabel Marant. Honestly, not because I find them so fabulous but because I’ve planned to spend Christmas in Chicago and it will be deathly cold. So I’d rather be a bit fashionable while trekking through the snow, don’t you think?
