The beauty things you don’t do.
But should.
Everyone has a beauty regime, whether it be short or long. Refinery 29 summarised a few handy points that you could add to your ritual. They will mean an even better or quicker result. Silly not to do them really and there is always time for improvement right? Especially if it involves tips from the professionals, beauty tips that we accept with love. Now I’m sharing them with you.
Oil in your daily skin care
We all actually already know that oil is good for your skin. Especially in winter. Now I know that not everyone is a fan of this stuff, but it does hydrate the skin far better than a daily cream. That’s why it’s a good idea to add a drop of oil to your day cream, so you skin can enjoy the perfect mix without an oily effect.
Hair masks
Many people find hair masks too much hassle, but for those ladies amongst us who dye their hair every now and then; it’s a must. Your hair dries out from the dye ingredients and a mask can ensure that your colour shines like never before, and you’ll be able to enjoy the result for longer. Not so much hassle after all.
Glossy eyelids
If you’re not a huge fan of eyeshadow, but still like a bit of sheen, use a balm on your lids. It’s moisturising, not sticky and very shiny. And you’ll look even better on all those photos.
Transparent powder
Transparent powders work very differently in winter than in summer. The skin is totally different. You need to watch out when making yourself up, because you can end up with a dusty effect. Plus your skin is drier in winter, so you don’t need much powder. What you can do is wear it on your lashes. I mean just a little on top of the lashes. It gives a lengthening and thickening effect to the lashes. Applied between your layers of mascara though, otherwise you’ll end up with a snow effect.
Concealer time
Concealer is not only used for brightening eyes or hiding patches. You can actually use concealer for many more things. Like as a primer on your lips, so your lipstick lasts longer. Or just under your brow to accentuate the shape. Or use it just inside the lid of your eye and in the corners, to make your eyes appear larger and wider. It’s actually a kind of styling tool.
The multi functional straightening iron
Don’t be too nonchalant with the straightening iron. Some work that thing with urgency through the hair. The result is straight hair, but with zero volume left over. Pay attention to the ends of the hair, give them a slight swirl and work the roots upwards. This way you’ll keep the bounce and volume. The perfect recipe for just-woken-up-like-this-hair.
Use your fingers
It’s a fact; brushes do a lot for your make-up, but don’t be afraid to use your fingers. You can achieve a beautiful result with them. Applying your lipstick for example, you’ll get a far more natural result like this without any hard lines. And you won’t need to fight with your cupid’s bow.
Look down
Mascara everywhere that it shouldn’t be? Recognisable? Specks all over your eyelids? Look down. This way you’ll get the nicest curl and speckles will be history.
Forgotten your foundation?
Are you travelling and have forgotten your foundation? Don’t panic. Mix a little concealer with a serum or balsam and you can use it all over your face. Use your fingers to apply it so you directly use it on the areas that actually need it. It’ll look lighter and fresher than if you use concealer on its own.
