My favorite CITY rUNS
10 KM, totally doable!
I can imagine that ‘running a half marathon’ scares the daylights out of you. And it is heavy. When I trained for the marathon (42km), I basically had no social life for four months. Early to bed, no alcohol and sometimes three hours of training. You need to be dedicated. But you could start by not setting the bar too high, with a 10 km run. That distance is totally doable and you don’t need to train forever to do it. Even better is that you can actually walk the next day and won’t be crawling with muscle ache. Super handy, so you can go shopping the next day to treat yourself to something nice. Running 10 kilometers should have a reward no?
paris
Sunday 31 May at 8am, the run starts from Bois de Bologne across Paris. Wonderful to go running through Paris as it awakens. You pay 40 euro for an entry ticket. Note, you need a medical note from your doctor stating that you are allowed to participate. Just ask your house doctor for a letter with 2 sentences (“Hello, I hereby declare that Jet is completely healthy.”) and a signature. A little hassle, but very important because you cannot join without it.
london
Sunday 12 July is the start of the 10 kilometre run through London. Around 25.000 people take part and the whole city is upside down. It’s usually great weather at this time, so also mega amounts of audience along the run, which is loads of fun. You start at Piccadilly and end at the Whitehall parliament building. The money from the entrance fee get’s donated to a charity: Cancer Research UK.
amsterdam
On Saturday 16 May, all Dutch girls get ready to run an evening run of 10 kilometres through Amsterdam. The event is organized by Nike and when you purchase your ticket (30 euro), you receive a t-shirt to wear on race day. I am totally participating and my training schedule begins on Monday to make sure I have no injuries and a fast time.

Berlin
If you’re a real die hard, you’ll fly to Berlin two weeks later on Saturday 20 June and take part in the 10 kilometre Women’s Nike run. Who knows, maybe you’ll see me!
