For some reason I thought it would be a cool idea get a t-shirt with the word ‘kale’ printed on to it. Well, it works when you live in pretty much any country except for the Netherlands cause the Dutch translation of the word is ‘bald.’ And obviously walking around with the word bald on your shirt is anything but cool. And having it printed out phonetically it would say ’throat.’ So both unfortunately aren’t options when you live in the land of clogs and cheese. But anyway, while I was in New York, kale was everywhere and in all shapes and sizes. In smoothies, kale chips, raw in salads, etc. Hence the reason I jotted down a couple of reasons why kale is good for you:

  • It’s packed with vitamin C (even more than in an orange) and iron. Nutrients we need every day.
  • Kale has a detox effect; it removes toxins from you body. Great after a night out in the town. Believe me, a handful of kale together with some strawberries, a banana, blueberries and coconut water, mixed and blended. You’ll love it.

  • Yes, kale is an excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin. It may sound like gibberish to you (I had to Google it myself too) but these are antioxidants that work miracles for your eyes.
  • This greeny leaf contains amino acids, which is great for your brain functions. Amino acids keep you sharp and focused.
  • There are very few calories in kale; yet it is very nutritious and satisfying (lots of fiber).
  • It keeps your metabolism process fully functioning.
  • And last but not least: it’s fat-free. Woohoo!

So guys, moral of the story: eat more kale.
