If I skip breakfast in the morning, I’m pretty much useless for the rest of the day. I’m not saying you need to take a good 15 minutes to eat when you’re up, but doing it quickly isn’t great either. I’m guilty of downing a shake right before I head off to work which is not a great example either. I know, I know, not very wise for a wannabe fit girl. So it’s time for a change. Opinions are still very split about the importance of breakfast, but as far as I am concerned, I can’t live without it. So therefore these little tips to start your day off if you want a good dose of energy for the rest of the day.

A lot of people aren’t thrilled at the sight of a thick green substance in the morning, so throw in some fruit (sweet) and you’ll hardly taste ‘the green.’ And it’ll change the color too.

What you need and how to make it

A hand full of kale

Half a banana

A bit of coconut water

Some celery sticks

A hand full of blueberries

Throw it all into a blender and let it mesh for a few minutes. The kale always needs a bit of time to get its liquid texture. If you find your smoothie texture to still be a bit too thick, add some more coconut water.

Teff is cool

You can buy teff at any biological super market. I swear by it. The substance can kind of be compared to the Instant Oatmeal you used to eat when you were little. Teff is a gluten free grain.

What you need and how to make it

A glass of almond milk

1 table spoon of flax seeds

1 banana

4 table spoons of teff

Heat up a pan of almond milk with teff. Let it get nice a hot and then switch the heat to a lower temperature. This will take no longer than three minutes by the way so it’s a easy and quick way to start your day. Pour everything into a bowl and add the banana and flax seeds. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you can always opt to add some honey.

3 table spoons of oatmeal

1 table spoon of chia seeds

Frozen red fruit (you can find this in any supermarket freezer)

A few chopped up pecan nuts

1 apple

Goji berries

Alright, it sounds like a lot of ingredients, but make sure you have them at home cause then you can vary your breakfast every morning. Heat up a pan with a small layer of water, oatmeal and the chia seeds. Keep it luke warm (don’t over heat!) and keep stirring. Pour the warm oatmeal into a bowl and throw in the frozen fruit. It’ll melt right away. Add a chopped up apple, a few pecan nuts and your goji beans and your power breakie is finit!
