New forms of
Some women still love when men open the door for them, gently guide them with one hand on their back when they’re at a party, scoot in their chair when they sit down at a table and show up at their doorstep with a bouquet of flowers before every date. I think it’s all hopelessly old fashioned. We can’t all continue to claim we want male and female equality when we still expect men to treat us like princesses. So is chivalry dead? Far from it, all that’s changed is its form.
The morning text
I wrote more about this phenomenon here and this too is another modern form of chivalry. Whatsapp is free, a sweet gesture, and can be done by both the male and the female.
The groups app
Your new lover adds you to his friends group chat. Things are looking good and you might as well reciprocate.
The birthday
He looks up your parents and little sisters birthday, that way when he sends them a message to congratulate them, not only will he impress you, he’ll score some bonus points with the family too. Ah Google, where would we be without you…
The Facebook-tag
In an album full of party pics from the past weekend he spots the most unflattering photo you’ve been tagged in. He calls or texts you immediately that you might want to take care of that awkward situation and untag immediately. Well if that ain’t a sweet form of chivalry…!
No phone
To top it all off, the classic: never ever checking his phone when he’s on a date with you. So neither should you.
