Just returned from a vacation, recharged and ready to go, only to crave another getaway to a tropical island a week later. Sound relatable? Your inbox is so crammed, your work pressure soaring and you’ve got a long list of to-do’s. Use sports to relax. It might sound a bit crazy, but when you’re completely beat from a day at the office, put on some work out clothes and go for a run or go to a body shaping class. Trust me, it’ll make you feel a lot better. Have a look at these app’s, they great for when you’re off on vacation, but perfect to use at home too. It doesn’t mean it’s going to completely relax your brain but it will definitely start the following day off stress free. A bit of yoga would be a better alternative to calm the mind. It takes some easing into, yoga courses, but once you know how to feel completely zen, you’ll never want anything else.

Relaxing with a bunch of friends and a bottle of wine works too, but there are better ways to clear your head. And it doesn’t require a yoga retreat to Thailand. Here are a few iPhone apps to help you out. Light some candles, turn on some serene music, change into some comfy clothes. Here we go:

Headspace

Spend 10 minutes a day meditating. Relax and go and lie on your couch. Or go and be a die hard and sit in a lotus position. Put your head phones on, close your eyes and listen carefully to what you’re being told. It might make you very sleepy and the voice is so soothing and tells you exacly what you should do.

This app is free the first 10 times you use it for ten minutes, and afterwards you can get a 5 euro subscription if you want to continue the lessons.

Relax with Andrew Johnson

There is a free version and one you have to pay for. The latter has a larger assortment of methods, but the free one covers the basics and I’d say that that will suffice. This man teaches you how to breath and whispers positive words of wisdom into your ear. For this app you can lay down on your couch too or perhaps even lay in you bed and listen to him before you go to sleep. Guaranteed you’ll have a good nights rest.

Calm

This requires a subscription. With endless sorts of meditation music for in the bedroom or just as regular background music. It even has a function which monitors your nights rest. Leave your phone under your pillow and wake up the following day and it will show your precisely how long you were tossing and turning, how long your REM lasted, if you woke up at all. Those kinds of things. Through spending more time meditating and focusing on your breathing, you’ll make your nights rest more relaxing. This app advises you to do so. With fifty different kinds of mediation for focus, creativity, energy, confidence and sleep. Each month new content is released, so you will never be bored.
