2 years of AMAYZINE.COM

Today we are blowing out two candles to honor the fact that precisely (well nearly precisely) two years ago we launched Amayzine.com and were welcomed into the world of digital media. And inevitably in those two years we have experienced quite a lot. I’m a sucker for nostalgia so today May Britt and I want to share some of our favorite moments from the past two years with you.

Liesbeth’s highlights

Fashion Week

I think this goes for the both of us but all the fashion weeks we’ve been to have definitely been highlights. Especially the first one we went to since I hadn’t been back to New York since I was 16 and I had never in my life experienced and international fashion week. Followed by Paris, then London – and the same little riddle every season.

All the traveling

We are stacking up those miles here and I have turned into a self proclaimed travel editor now too. This year alone I’ve traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Paris, London, New York, Canada, Peru, Hungary, Milan, Mallorca, Champagne and the year isn’t even over yet.

Meeting Bill Cunningham

When I was in New York this past May I got to meet Bill Cuningham and drop by his home. For many of you the name might not ring a bell, but in my eyes he’s a legend and meeting him was hands down one of the most memorable and remarkable things I have ever gotten to experience.

May-Britt’s highlights

18 hours with maartje verhoef

Maartje had only just turned 17, graduated from high school and was about to experience her first real fashion week in NY. She had already opened one of Prada’s shows so technically she wasn’t a rookie, but it was still comforting for her to know someone from her home country was around and for me it was obviously incredible to experience a part of it. And that fashion month happened to be the one during which Maartje walked the most amount of shows out of all the models and hence forth, she’s a well known name in the industry.

Fashion parties are usually not as spectacular as everyone makes them look and seem. Last NY fashion week, Fiona Hering from the Dutch Vogue and I had received tickets to the Michael Kors party in The Boom Boom Room (the coolest club in all of New York) and there we were, face to face with our teenage crushes Duran Duran. The inner teenager in myself had never been more excited.

Holland’s Next Top Model

After receiving a few calls here and there whether I would be interested in working for Holland’s Next Top Model, Amayzine has now been the programs media partner for two consecutive years. Now I must say I have my fair share of experience working for television, but the crew that’s a part of this show is one that’s hard to beat.

Sleeping in le Bristol in Paris with dior

This was Amayzine’s first official press trip. Paris + Dior. What more could a girl want. And we slept in Le Bristol which I actually only knew out of Woody Allen’s movie Midnight in Paris.
