Conversation Piece Fun & Famous

WERE YOU ALREADY AWARE OF THIS CRAZY NEW ANOMALY?

As you might already know, I can spend hours on end scrolling through the online pages of Reddit, a discussion platform for people from all over the globe. Tips are exchanged, people ask for advice or anything else forums are made for. A while back I stumbled upon the topic of ‘morning texts’ and whether or not a woman likes getting them or if they come off rather creepy and pushy. Morning text? Que? I’m familiar with morning sex, the morning after pill, morning walk of shame and morning breath, but the morning text was something I was yet to learn about.

In short, a morning text is the message a person of the male species sends the morning (yeah DUH) after a date. Or a male you recently dated. You can expect to receive a morning text on week days between 7 and 10 AM, anything sent afterwards is no longer considered a morning text, consisting of a ‘good morning’ and asking if you had a good nights sleep. So it pretty much goes as follows: “Hey you, good morning! How’d you sleep? Ready to take on the rest of the day?” You catch the drift.

The idea behind the text is that the first thing the guy in question thinks about in the morning is you, and this is his way of showing it. (Aww OMG so sweet…!) In today’s current digital world we live in, every digital form of life is important so the fact that he’s sending you a message as soon as he wakes up is a sign. Well, according to the internet that is.

I don’t know how I feel about this. A former flame of mine and I used to send one another texts on the mornings we didn’t wake up next to each other. More importantly, if I didn’t happen it was an indication that we had quarreled the night before. So no morning text meant my entire day went to shambles. He was always up earlier than I was so every morning when I woke up the very first thing I would do is pull out my phone to read his message. And anytime my inbox was empty I would feel rather restless.

It was extremely dysfunctional. Another former love interest of mine and I made it a lot less compulsory. We texted each other any time we had something we wanted to share so sometimes I wouldn’t receive anything until late in the afternoon. Let me tell ya; way more relaxing.

But fair is fair, waking up with a sweet message on your phone from that one person that makes your heart flutter is still romantic. Just a short, sweet, ‘I’m thinking about you’ , hi-bye, something. Don’t over exaggerate, don’t claim them, nothing too over the top. During my investigation of the morning text, I came across some sites that offer templates of texts you can send out and my god some were too awful. Is it okay if I share a couple with you? Just promise me you will never ever use these and promise me that if someone ever sends one of them to you, you dump the person fast as a bullet.

“I am sending you this message not just to say good morning but also to put a big smile on your face.”

“Even though it takes a heartbeat to think about you, the smile that follows lasts the entire day. Good morning!”

“I hate waking up because then I can’t dream of you. Good morning.”

“You are the star twinkles in my sky and the sunshine that brightens my life.”

“You’re the ocean and I’m the beach. We belong together. Good morning my love.”

“The first thing I do is text you, since you are the only sunshine in my life. Good morning.”

“Every breath you take, I’ll be thinking of you. You are the sugar in my life.”

GAG GAG GAG. Anyone who wants to waste more of their time reading this kind of crap; this is where you need to be.
