Why you should wake up early
if you want to be successful
Grab a couple of agenda’s from the greatest entrepreneurs around and you will notice that they all have one thing in common; they are all early birds. Now my personal wake up call is also set awfully early (my alarm goes off at 06:15 in the morning) but that isn’t necessarily a personal choice.
If you want to be successful you need to be up and running at least an hour before the rest of the world wakes up, according to the Huffington Post.
Hereby a couple of my co-early risers. Richard Branson for example. His alarm jingles at 05:00 am. “This gives me the time to read the morning news, check my e-mails and spend some time with my family in my own pace, a tranquil start of my day.”
Michelle Obama wakes up half an hour earlier; at 04:30 am
Michelle Obama wakes up half an hour earlier: at 04:30 am. This gives her the time to workout before she looses herself in the hustle of her day. Anna Wintour. Another early riser who always goes to bed at 22:00 and is suited up in her tennis attire at 5:00 am the following morning (I applaud you Anna).
You’re ahead of the world around you; you aren’t distracted by random phone calls or people who expect immediate rsvps. Every minute feels like a gift.
And since you’re up anyway, you might as well be one of the lucky few to enjoy the alluring sunrise.
A few tips to have an even better start of your day.
Drink water
You need to stay hydrated since you haven’t had any water intake for about seven to eight hours.
MAKE YOUR BED
The ritual of making your bed in the morning helps put you in a daily groove. You’ll be more productive rather than hastily rolling out of bed, skipping the shower and heaving yourself into the ensemble you wore the day before. Plus, it’s much nicer when you come home in the evening.
have a healthy breakfast
You want to maintain your energy, or else you might as well find a corner to nap in.
prioritize
Think of everything you want to accomplish in your day, what you can outsource and what has top priority.
In the meantime, think of all those colleague-early risers and everything they have accomplished so far in their lives. Are you going to join me and set your alarm tomorrow at an ungodly hour? Perhaps we’ll see each other soon in the Forbes 500…
