7 THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE FORMULA 1
Last Sunday I attended the Grand Prix for the very first time in my life. And believe me, it was all as exciting as I had imagined it to be, but the trip also taught me a thing or two. Or seven. So incase you ever plan on attending the Formula 2, read along.
1. Be on time
I spent the night at a hotel that was twenty kilometers away from the circuit. The match would start at 2 PM and to me it seemed like complete nonsense to jump in the car right after breakfast, but seriously, even then we were stuck in traffic. For at least an hour.
2. Seat cooling
And when you’re stuck in traffic and it’s hot out, then you’re lucky if you’re driving the Renault Talisman. Seat cooling. A chilled tush. I applaud whoever designed this. They deserve a statue. And a Nobel prize. And champagne everyday. How brilliant. Especially when it’s 29 degrees out and you’re stuck in traffic on the way to the circuit which you can practically hear and smell, that’s how close it is.

3. If you’re on a diet, you’ve got a problem
Or you just shouldn’t eat at all. That might be the only option if you’re on a diet. There’s absolutely nothing healthy at the circuit. You can order fries, sausages and hamburgers. Manly meals. And beer.
4. You can leave your earplugs at home
Because they hand some out at the circuit, but to be honest, you don’t really need them. Or I just happen to be partially deaf, that’s also an option.
5. And your heels too
But if you refuse to go on flats, then opt for wedge heels. You have to walk through sand and grass and you and I both know that sand and grass aren’t the best of friends with heels.
6. Bring sunscreen
The Grand Prix is the new festival, meaning you’re out in the sun all day. With a beer and a braadwurst potentially. But you’ve got sunlight on your face all day. Which is great, just don’t forget your sunscreen.

7. The racers are heroes
I was immediately indoctrinated as well as brainwashed by my guy. It all started off with him getting me into watching soccer but now I’ve become a real Formula 1 fanatic. Due to all the stories of the things they have to give up but also the amount of money they make. Kimi Räikkönen, Sebastian Vettel, the Renault drivers Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer and the Dutch Max Verstappen. These guys all come to life during the Grand Prix.
8. Make sure your credit card has a good backbone
Because a ticket might cost you a hundred euros and perhaps you might even come across one with a four hundred euro price tag.
