4 X My favorite winter terrace
If I open a restaurant later, just saying, the first thing I will apply for is a permit for terrace heating (you can't just buy that). You know, those things that hang on the wall that give you a lovely warm breeze while you sit in the cold. Then I'll also give you a fleece blanket, so you can sit outside endlessly by the canals of Amsterdam by night. A little peeking at the passersby and, only if you want, you can also smoke a cigarette. That saves you a lot of back and forth (ahem). I'll give you a few of my favorite terraces where you can still easily sit outside in the cold. Shall I see you there soon? For a cigarette? Uuuh, I mean of course a cup of green tea.
I have here have you ever sat outside on a weekday evening in the pouring rain, wind, and cold? We sat outside. The heater above us was howling and there was fleece over our legs. The awning was out, so we couldn't get wet. I can tell you. It doesn't get more romantic than that. Oh yes, order in advance, with your aperitif, the smoked almonds. Much tastier (and healthier) than bread. The menu changes every month, but I usually go for the fish. It's always good. In any case, almost all dishes are made from organic and sustainable products. You'd be doing me a big favor.
Here you sit on the terrace as if it's still summer. There are so many terrace heaters hanging. You can almost sit without a coat. The large terrace that is set up for really warm weather is unfortunately already stacked in the basement, but there is still a small row outside where you can wrap yourself in blankets and there is warmth above your head. Where you sit among French writers with slightly too beautiful and young women is right in the Pijp, so plenty of choice to go somewhere with your date or girlfriend afterwards.
A tent that I can't get enough of. In the morning homemade granola with yogurt, for the afternoon I would choose the omelet with truffle cheese and in the evening there's a delicious chicken. Don't forget to order the sticky toffee cake for dessert. The restaurant is located by the canal, so you have a nice view. Reserve a table on the bench outside by the window (sometimes they don't serve outside, but you just have to come a little early, then it will work), view of the Prinsengracht, street lamps turn on in the evening and so do those heaters.
This is lovely for a healthy breakfast or lunch during the day. Last Saturday I enjoyed here in the winter sun after a run through Vondelpark. The blankets aren't ready for you, but if you ask for one, you get a huge piece that you can cover your whole body with so you don't feel cold at all. So it happened that I sat there for so long that it was time for a glass of wine. In my sports outfit so. Sorry.
