Charlotte ten Brink is a singer and is often in the spotlight. She doesn't really call herself a makeup queen and prefers to live as naturally as possible. With a swipe of mascara and some BB Cream, she looks stunning both during the day and on stage. Tell us, Charlotte, how do you do it?

Morning ritual

“My day starts off pretty well, because my boyfriend brings a juice and tea next to my bed every morning. So it's a pleasure to enjoy. After that, I shower, during which I often wash my hair. Pretty bad, but I have a really nice shampoo and conditioner from Kiehl’s with a coconut scent. That brand is wonderful for me, because I notice that my hair looks really nice because of it. The shower gels from this brand are also lovely. Makeup isn't really my strong suit, so I keep it simple. I first apply a nice cream from De Tuinen. A cream that costs only four euros, but it's my favorite. The invention is the BB cream from Clinique. I immediately look a lot fresher. Additionally, I always use a bit of concealer, eyeliner, and mascara. And very occasionally, when I feel like it, a bit of color on my lips.”

Favorite nail polish

“I paint my nails quite often and have a favorite brand that I always use; Kiko. Whenever I'm in Italy, I always buy a lot of colors from this brand because they are incredibly cheap. I've tried many nail polishes from different brands, but Kiko really lasts the longest. I used to have acrylic nails, but now they're just my own. I got tired of them growing so fast, which meant I often had to go back to the salon. I find short nails much more practical (I play piano), and they look tastier. I usually wear a reddish color.” 

Red carpet essential

“On my vanity, there's a very nice foundation from La Mer. It's too expensive to apply it to my face every day, so I only wear it for performances or parties. It has a little shimmer in it, which looks really nice on my skin. Coincidentally, I wore it last night at the premiere of Hartenstraat. Additionally, I've recently had bangs cut into my hair, which is new for me. In daily life, I find that it usually looks good quickly, but for a party or performance, I take a bit more time to style everything with the straightener and curling iron. Then I really put in a bit more effort.”

 Eyebrows or lashes

“Definitely eyelashes! In that regard, I am quite a typical girl. My sisters sometimes say it's time to pluck my eyebrows, but I'm not really focused on that. When I sit in the chair of a makeup artist, she does that for me. I always give my eyelashes a swipe of mascara with Maybelline. A cheap but good brand. I find it important that my eyelashes look really good and that the mascara sits nicely.”

Unexpected Beauty Tool

“Water. I always clean my face with water. When I use other cleansing products, I notice that my skin becomes restless. For my mascara, I do use a cleansing product from Vichy. But otherwise, water is my solution. To cleanse it but also to drink a lot. Additionally, a good tip is not to sit in the sun too much. My mother is my best example of how important that is for your skin. She looks amazing because she never sits with her face in the sun.”

Favorite perfume

“I definitely have a favorite perfume and that is Classique summer by Jean Paul Gaultier. In that very beautifully colored bottle. I find perfume very important, even for men. For my boyfriend, I bought La Nuit L’homme by Yves Saint Laurent. It smells amazing.”

Never leave home without

“Elizabeth Arden. For years, I've been taking the 8 hour cream with me. I'm really addicted to it. Additionally, this winter, I always have a hand cream from The Bodyshop with me. I apply it throughout the day because I really can't stand dry hands. The Bodyshop is a store that I've rediscovered. I recently bought a nice body lotion with a coconut scent that I now apply often. Then I smell wonderfully like the beach and feel like summer is just around the corner. I love coconut, both to apply and to eat!”

Nice beauty purchase

“Coincidentally, I just bought a blush from Bobbi Brown, the Pot Rouge For Lips and Cheeks in pale pink 11. I was in Douglas and this was recommended to me and applied to me. Immediately, I saw a very healthy flush. And nice, because you can also apply it to your lips.”

“Secretly, I am a huge fan of Mascha from Beautygloss.nl. It's wonderful to watch her videos about makeup and nice products. When she explains it, I suddenly find makeup fun! A lovely woman and a nice site. It's relaxing to watch and I also learn something about makeup.”
