Beauty

Now that I've been working for a year to gather the most fun and inspiring people to share their daily beauty rituals, I've been asked more and more often to share my own beauty tips and tricks. So here it is. At many requests.

Morning ritual

“I always start the morning with a warm shower. Much longer than necessary, but I just love starting the day that way. Under the shower, I already cleanse my face with the 3-step plan from Clinique. That saves time afterwards. I apply the cleanser with the electronic facial cleansing brush from Clarisonic. I really think it's an invention. It makes your face incredibly soft, cleans about 6 times better than without a brush, and creams can then work much better. After the shower, I always use steps 2 and 3 from Clinique. Additionally, I wash my hair in the shower. Confession: I do that every day. Without washing it, I feel like my hair just isn't clean. I have extremely straight hair, with no curl or wave since the Keratin treatment from Goldwell I had. I'm happy with that, but if I feel like having beachy hair, which I’m also a fan of, I use the entire line Undone from the Insiders. After showering, I often use a serum and the day cream from MAC Cosmetics. This keeps the skin well-hydrated and extremely soft. A good base for makeup.”

5 minutes make-up

Secretly, I think I always go through life quite flawlessly, but now that I'm listing everything, it turns out to be quite disappointing. I always use Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation from CHANEL. This gives a velvety layer and immediately smooths out imperfections. You actually don't need powder anymore, but I often use the powder balls from Guerlain, which give a nice extra shine. Furthermore, I always use mascara from Clinique. Often that's the High Impact mascara, because it's really extremely waterproof. Additionally, I shape my eyebrows with a set from HEMA, including the good eyebrow gel. Finally, I always use a bit of bronzer from Guerlain. Actually a shame, because they are so beautiful that you hardly dare to dip the brush in. I usually stop there. And yes, all of that can really be done in five minutes.”

Eyebrows or lashes

“I always thought that eyelashes were the most important, but since I have fairly dark and long eyelashes, I've shifted my focus to my eyebrows and sometimes catch myself leaving the house without mascara. Unfortunately, I’m not blessed with the Cara-Look, so I always fill them in a bit. Additionally, I’m now diligently applying the serum from M2Brows, so hopefully one day I can just use the eyebrow gel from HEMA.”

Favorite perfume

“Actually, there are several. I once spoke to Thijs Willekeand he believed that every woman should have a wardrobe of fragrances, just like various beautiful clothing items. I completely agree with this statement. I think I'm already on the right track. My favorites include DKNY, but also Love Story by Chloé and for special occasions and parties, I use Les Beiges by CHANEL, one of the exclusives.”

Hair-do

“Recently, I got bangs and thus a different hairstyle. Thanks to the Keratin treatment, I don't have to do much to it, unless I choose a different look. What I always do is use a dust powder or dry shampoo to give volume. It makes your hair a bit rougher, and if you run your hands through it during the day, you can easily regain that volume.”

Favorites

Every day, quite a few packages from different beauty brands end up on my desk. I do share them with my colleagues, but sometimes I also need to provide you with the right info and start testing. In terms of makeup, my favorite brands are Bobbi Brown (really beautiful shimmer bricks), MAC Cosmetics, and CHANEL. The pigments are so beautiful and the colors are really on-trend. For skincare, my favorites are Clinique and Vichy. Very nice and pure.”

Best purchase

My best purchase is definitely the Clarisonic. I've always found cleansing important, but since I got that thing, I've really noticed that the quality of cleansing has improved. The effect is so much better. Additionally, I found the Superliner blackbuster from L’Oréal Paris to be a good buy. Not expensive at all, but with this pen, you can create the perfect line even if you don't have a steady hand.”

Never leave home without

“The Perfection Lumiere Velvet from CHANEL is always in my bag. A small drop is enough as concealer, and it immediately gives you an open look. Additionally, Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care from the same brand. Beautiful for the lips, but also nice on the cheekbones for a fresh appearance.”

Million Dollar Tip

“Sometimes I really don't feel like creating an elaborate look, so on Saturdays, you often see me with just a bit of mascara because, never leave home without it. I always use a primer from Smashbox. It evens out the face, and then you feel a bit less bare.”
