DIY Gucci hair
Tonight is the finale of Holland’s Next Topmodel and since I wore a dress by Gucci, I thought Gucci hair would be fun too. I am in love with the total look of their fall/winter collection from snake print boots to sunglasses and everything in between. Let me now be in the extremely lucky position of having Rachel Geerman on speed dial.
She is both the hairstylist of the team of Luigi Murenu, has a salon The Building on Amsterdam's Stadionweg (close to our HQ) and also did the hair for this show so it couldn't be better. Do you also feel like having nice casual, sexy Gucci hair tonight but no Rachel around? Try it this way.
1. Buy a hairpiece. Fairly essential. I am a fan of the hairpieces from Balmain that you can buy at better hairdressers. It's a bit of an expense (think about €60) but you can use it for a long time. Buy one that you can attach with small clips. Rachel makes a small braid and sews a hairpiece onto it but that is difficult for us amateurs.
2. Wash your hair with dry shampoo. This keeps it clean without becoming limp. I am a fan of the silvershine from O&M.
3. Blow-dry your hair and when it is towel-dry, apply a generous amount of mousse for hold.
4. Attach one or two hairpieces at the top of your head so that your own hair falls over it.
5. Use a curling iron to curl section by section. Blow-dry your bangs outward and part them in the middle so that you have a lock on both sides that ‘folds’ outward.
6. Take two sections and pin them at the back with bobby pins. This gives both more hold and adds some shape to all that hair.
