Wrapping like Harrods
– in 7 steps to the most beautiful gift –
Last year I was on vacation in Australia in December. It was really lovely because I didn't miss the hustle and bustle of the Christmas days at all. This year I'm trying to escape it a bit. What I did miss was wrapping the gifts. I really make a party out of it. Because fun content is one thing, but something that has a ribbon around it and is wrapped in nice paper is at least as fun. So that's why I'm putting together a few tips & tricks. Make double the impression at a party.
Of course, you can simply wrap it in paper and secure it with tape, but if you've put effort into the gift itself, you should also put effort into the packaging. It's worth it. Now I really understand that wrapping is a craft in itself and you don't always have an overload of ideas. Check out Pinterest, there are really hundreds of ideas to make a gift cozy. On Instagram, for example, you can follow StyleCookie and follow Designlovefest , they also regularly post original photos that can inspire you.
The paper is of course the basis of wrapping. Now HEMA has nice papers , but if you want to go for something really special, then visit the paper store, VLIEGER in Amsterdam. They really have hundreds of types of sheets, also in themes like Christmas and Sinterklaas, and you can easily get lost in all that beauty. Keep in mind, if you have a Christmas or. Sinterklaas evening, not everything needs to be wrapped in the theme. A reference is nice, but you can also do that with a sticker or label. Or stick a Christmas ornament or golden frog on the package. If you have such a reference, then a different kind of paper is fine. In the absence of paper, magazines also work well. Find a, beautiful fashion production and wrap your gift with it. I'll refer you to point 3. Step 3 is the absolute fun part of the wrapping process. There are so many fun things to get to give a gift a finishing touch.
Tags. , bows,, ribbons, , stickers,, stamps, , tapes. You can give it just a little extra. For example, with, paper tape , which is available in all kinds of prints and colors, you add a small extra detail. With ribbon, you immediately create a luxurious feel. Don't cut it too short, but keep it nice and long, that gives such a nice effect. Furthermore, I am always a big advocate of using what you have at home. Just, kitchen twine , or string that you use for making roulade, can also be very nice. And little figures that you get at a supermarket can also be quite fun on a gift. Just collect the stuff and don't throw things away. They can always be a nice surprise on a gift. Where do you buy all those accessories?, Buitendelijntjesshop.com likestationary.com, psikhouvanjou.nl and are wonderful webshops to stock up on everything. A piece of paper and ribbon really don't have to be the same color. And no, a gift doesn't always have to be in a box. Think outside the box. If you've bought just a small gift, read: cheap gift, then you should wrap it grandly. And combine everything with each other. What I mentioned earlier about fashion productions from magazines can also work well with.
newspaper . It doesn't have to look ugly, as long as you tie a nice satin ribbon around it afterwards. And if you have very nice paper, then a piece of string is also enough to tie it all together. Ensure balance, but also make surprising choices. That surprises the recipient too.. I understand if all of the above creates a lot of enthusiasm to start cutting and pasting, but keep it a bit neat. It's not a Sinterklaas surprise I'm talking about where glue residues and paint stains can still be quite visible. Less is more, that's also the rule when wrapping. Ribbons and labels are nice, but then leave out the stickers and tapes. Or vice versa. All those beautiful papers and accessories that you have stocked up must come into their own. And that doesn't happen if you use everything together. Oh yes. And nothing is more annoying than ugly wrapped and crumpled gifts. So fold and stick neatly.
CHANEL.
At Jo Malone and each package is provided with a spray of perfume. It makes unwrapping so much more fun. They thought about it, because when opening the bag, the experience begins, and that makes everyone happy. Think about that too. A card or a tag with a personal wish makes it even more special. It can also just be an extremely beautiful or funny postcard that you tie to the gift. I find it so silly when a gift arrives soaked or crumpled. Or that the tape has already come loose. So think about a bag. Preferably a bag that is either transparent (then your wrapping skills are immediately visible), or a quality bag (think CHANEL, SISLEY, etc.). Or choose a paper bag where you can naturally write, draw, or stamp something fun on. Okay, I'm going overboard. But I do think a bag is important.
Have fun wrapping, and please send me some photos of the result, I would love that.
