My Curiosities Cabinet went the past editions almost always about crazy weird or totally disturbed people. Real people, from TV, people we all know who have misbehaved in one way or another. But the Cabinet is broader than that because my bad taste knows no bounds, so today I introduce to you the funniest and weirdest site there is: Lol Dutch People.

Lol Dutch People is a tumblr created by a girl named Carmen, and in short, she collects pictures of very flat Netherlands here. The part of the Netherlands that votes for the PVV (I will assume for convenience that you are all smarter than voting for the PVV), the part where obesity is totally the shit, where white leggings are the order of the day, sailing jackets are worn on the street without problems, and the part of the Netherlands that shouts the loudest that people who rightly say that Zwarte Piet is racist should “just go back to their own country.” Because those people exist, and they also have the internet, and they present themselves in all their glory on the web.

I once heard that Lol Dutch People is now so well-known that Carmen receives photos from other fans and thus comes across the gems that are displayed there. When you see this, you are no longer sure if it is so fun to be Dutch. Sure, this kind of people must exist in all countries, but still, it is secretly quite exemplary. No country where people are so eager to wear white leggings, where the short purple spiky hair is so indelible and where people go through life so incredibly unkempt.

It is almost impossible not to come across as condescending, but know that I am indeed a peace-loving person (sometimes) and that this is just a funny diversion. But be warned, once you are on Lol Dutch People, you will scroll forever. But hey, that's what Sundays are for.
