Our last day
After breakfast at the hotel, it was time to check out. With a heavy heart. What a lovely hotel and how spoiled we have been, because from now on we never want to sleep in another hotel again.
Our heavy suitcases we dragged down to the reception. Somehow my suitcase always comes back three times heavier than when I took it, and I think I behaved quite well with shopping. We found out that it wasn't much more expensive to take a taxi directly to the airport instead of going by train, so you understand, that choice was quickly made. We reserved the black cab for the end of the afternoon with a really nice porter, who after a few times high-fiving and hugging gave us permission to shop a bit more. How nice.
A Date
We still had an appointment with Anouk Bos. Owner of Creators of Desire. She has been featured in our Look of The Day a few times and we had some really nice contact afterwards. “Blonde curls, scandi chic with a bohemian touch.” That's how she describes her own style. And everything, but absolutely everything she wears I think is cool. She had reserved a table on the rooftop of Shoreditch House. It's a members-only club, but luckily we were on the list. We ordered salads and quinoa, drank green tea, sparkling water, and wine, and immensely enjoyed the sun and the view over London.
No pictures please
Taking photos is prohibited in the hotel. All for the privacy of the guests. And well, when Lindsay Lohan walked past our table, I could understand that. Did you know she has had her lips injected about ten times? She looked amazing.
I secretly snapped a photo here and there but was quickly caught. The waiter was too late because I had already taken a few nice ones.
One more then
After lunch and a bit of chilling by the pool, Anouk took us to Albion. A really nice tea room around the corner. There are so many nice eateries in London. Liesbeth can't get enough of the Shoe Heaven, I get really happy from a nice restaurant, hotel, or lunchroom. Albion also had a nice organic store with tea, coffee, vegetables, fruits, and healthy snacks where I browsed a bit. We had another green tea on the terrace and chatted as if we had known each other for years.
It's time!
Because we were having such a good time, it was way too late to shop properly. We did walk past Sweaty Betty, a store with cool sportswear. Liesbeth was outside in one second again, I saw a lot of nice stuff but I held back.
Arriving at OUR hotel, the taxi was already packed and ready. The sweetest porter ever, and also now our best friend, gave us a big hug, “god bless you girls and please come back!” And we will.
Missed opportunity
At the airport, we did our last round of shopping. I quickly tried on a Valentino bag and I dreamed about it last night, which is bad news. For my bank account, that is. Lies did a little happy dance when she saw the L. K. Bennett store and immediately asked for her size for a black shoe, but after ten minutes of waiting, we weren't in the mood anymore.
Back to work
And now I'm back at my desk in a lovely new building. We will calmly prepare for Paris next week. I never said I had a very boring job, did I?
