On the other side of streetstyle

There is nothing new about it anymore: the streets during Fashion Week are just as much a spectacle as what happens on the catwalk. Streetstyle is hot, hot hot hot. Huge crowds of girls and women go to the shows without a map but with a killer outfit to where the most photographers are in the hope to be captured on camera. After New York and London, we have experienced that phenomenon firsthand. Especially in New York, I was photographed quite often and that is, to be honest, quite exciting and also a bit fun. That click of the camera is a kind of real-life version of “like” for your clothes and well, every compliment counts. By the way, it is incredibly frustrating that you can never find those photos again because how do you know where on which site or blog they are posted, but that's beside the point.

The thing is, especially in London, we noticed that the people taking photos of all those well-dressed fashion dolls are actually very photogenic themselves. Super hipster types run like deer across the street, dodge cars, and jump over walls to get the shot. They all know each other, often operate in groups, and move from fashion city to fashion city, building a whole network with fashion dolls. Streetstyle photographers and the frequently photographed subjects know each other, help each other, text each other what time they will arrive, and choose the best spot together to take the best photo. It is truly fascinating material.

So, if you see whole blog posts and pages full of streetstyle in the coming time, know that those photos were probably taken by one of the photographers in the photos in this post. And let's be honest, knowing that what is behind the lens is at least as stylish and hip as what is in front of the lens makes it all just a bit more fun. That's what I thought.
