5 terraces where Jet will definitely be this summer

People, terrace weather has really arrived. Now, the thing is that in the Netherlands, everyone rushes out at 10 degrees to sit outside with bare legs (I always find that so exaggerated), but no: now it's serious business. I think it's warm enough (well, a little jacket then, huh) to already secure a spot outside. By the way, I still keep my milk bottles under a pair of jeans, tights, or a long skirt.

This year, some new restaurants have opened in the capital again. Now that the sun is out, all the chairs and tables can finally go outside for the first time, so it's high time to test them all. I’ll give you some nice terraces that I will definitely visit this summer. New and old ones. See you there?

Here I have already written about this one before. This one is a bit hidden in Amsterdam-West and not necessarily located on a bike route. You have to walk through a few apartment buildings, but then you are really lovely by the water with plenty of sun during the day.

Definitely one of my favorite spots in the city. It is a large restaurant next to Artis and I am already looking forward to the sultry summer evenings when you sit in Artis among the birds and squirrels. There are strings of lights hanging in the trees, which I always find so romantic.

This is the sister of Bar Spek, which is usually our living room on Sundays. This place is in the Helmersbuurt, right next to Vondelpark. A large terrace on a cozy square with a cute little greengrocer. From the kitchen come the perfect wood-fired pizzas and you drink the best Aperol Spritz. Bring a light jacket in the evening, because the sun does disappear behind the houses.

Just take the ferry across the IJ. There you have a wonderfully spacious spot with all kinds of different seating areas, loungers, and bean bags. You set your Corona beer in the sand because they have made a sort of beach there. Here you can easily hang out all day and get a little tan. It's also not weird to sit there in your bikini, by the way.

A huge terrace where you (or a friend) need to secure a table early, because in the afternoon it gets super crowded. No problem to start early there, because there is sun all day long. You sit on a sort of square at the busy Bilderdijkstraat, but I always find it nice to have something to look at. Very young and hip Amsterdam rushes here in the summer, so find your spot!
