7 hair mistakes
that you never want to make again
You probably spend some money on the very best shampoo, the most pleasant smelling conditioner and the most nourishing hair mask. That's nice, that's good and for that, I already give you twelve points, but there might be some other things that could be a bit different. Because read on, and you will probably recognize yourself in at least half of it.
Conditioner throughout your hair
No, you don't apply conditioner throughout your hair. You do that with shampoo. That washes everything. In principle, conditioner only needs to be applied to the ends. If you apply it all over your hair, there's a chance that your hair will feel a lot heavier and thus sag faster. What a waste.
Rinse well
To stay in the mood of conditioner. Often you have been in the shower for a long time, so that conditioner needs to be quickly incorporated into the ritual . Rinse it out well. Otherwise, your hair will actually become greasy (you don't want that), and if residues remain on the skin, it can cause blockages and dirt. From conditioner, yes. Didn't you know?
Drying
I've said it once, but after washing your hair, it's best to pat your hair dry instead of rubbing it with a towel. That conditioner ensures that your hair is soft and cared for, but if you then go roughly through your hair, that will ruin it completely.
Divide and conquer
Styling products should of course be distributed throughout your hair. Sounds logical, but often mousse is only applied at the roots because you want volume there and you only apply a prep to the ends. Just distribute it over all your hair. You don't want a bird's nest on your head, and you want your entire hairstyle to look perfect every minute of the day.
Hairspray
The more, the better. The closer you spray, the better it stays in place. There's some truth to that, but the result can become a kind of Roy Donders look where the curl becomes rock hard and the stickiness is overwhelming. If you spray it from 30 cm away, it won't be too sticky but will stay incredibly well in place.
Upside down
If you always brush your hair from top to bottom then you're actually doing it a bit wrong. Start from the bottom. That's where the tangles and knots are, so brush those out first. Then start from the top and you'll glide through your hair much more smoothly. You'll also see that your brush isn't filled with hair every time because you can get through the tangles. Startled by the smoke puffs.
When you
style, curl, or blow-dry your hair there will be smoke coming off. Now I often get startled by that too because I'm afraid everything will catch fire and I won't have any hair left on my head, but it's actually just a styling product that burns. Nothing serious, just good, because then it does its job. Better that styling product than your own mane. You probably spend some money on the very best shampoo, the most pleasant smelling conditioner, and the most nourishing hair mask. That's nice...
