HAIR AND THE CITY
The cities where your hair looks best
Call it the side effects of our job. You travel and you experience. Not all equally important in the light of history but still handy to know. Like the causal relationship between the location you are in and your hair situation. Here we go, so we don't forget.
New York
Here your hair is at its worst, or in other words, a complete mess. There is an overdose of lime in the water, making it impossible to do anything with your hair. There are special showerheads that filter the water, allowing you to sprinkle nice soft water on your head. Another option I heard from Linda de Mol's makeup artist: ‘Just rinse it off with a bottle of Evian.’
Or you pack a straightener in your suitcase and breathe new life into your tight ponytail.
Milan
Is it the pasta, the oil, the garlic, the dry air? No idea, but in Milan, your hair looks amazing, grand, and captivating. Just here take a look if you don't believe me. Thus, the perfect location for a romantic weekend with your sweetheart and very suitable for taking lots of photos. Of yourself, of course. And of your hair.
Rio de Janeiro
There was Liesbeth (quite a big critic when it comes to her own hair) and she was in her element. With everything, but her hairstyle certainly contributed to that. Just washed with the shampoo available in the hostels and no rinsing with Perrier or Evian. Just pure nature. This winter she is seriously considering a second visit.
Rome
I love Rome and would prefer to move there tomorrow, but hair and skin don't really do well there. When I returned to the Netherlands after six months of sabbatical, I had a spot of two by three centimeters from the rosacea that had developed due to too much scootering in a polluted city (all neatly lasered away, you see nothing of it now) and my hair has always been heavy and frizzy because it is so incredibly humid there. So go there, but especially take photos of Rome and not of yourself in Rome. Unless you want to look good in them.
Berlin
Joss was recently in Berlin and even left her signature bun behind. What it was, she doesn't know, but her hair was good.
, but I can tell you: they just don't get it. Nice is nice (ha ha ha). Check out the best tips and addresses below for the best baguettes, cheeses, and of course
From small field research, it appears that my hair does just fine at the Côte. Nice and dry with lots of volume. Nothing more to do.
Copenhagen
Josselin's favorite, there her hair shines without becoming dull and still looks nice. I'm going there on Friday and will update you on my experience.
If you have any experiences that fall within the significant chapter of hair and city, email me. I'm working on a dossier.
