8 tips to stick to your good fitness resolutions
Good resolutions Whether or not, I bet everyone thought at the beginning of this month: Wow, I'm going to take it easy, eat healthy, maybe exercise a bit here and there. Those kinds of things. Others have set huge goals like a body like Doutzen, a cover on Women’s Health or a role in the Sloggi commercial.

How quickly those resolutions are made, even faster they all fall apart and you think: ‘fuck it’. Not a big deal at all, because a body like Doutzen's is just almost impossible. But a little bit on the healthy path and sometimes going for a run or holding a weight really can't hurt. You really have to push through to maintain that. I'll give you a hand to stick to your (healthy) dreams, resolutions, standpoint, planning, ideas, whatever you want to call it.
- So set a realistic goal. Again, Doutzen's body is actually unattainable. It's her job, she gets paid for it and okay, okay, she also has some incredibly good genes. If you, for example, feel like moving a bit more, that is totally achievable. Drag yourself to the gym a few times a week, swim a few laps or go running. Or maybe you want to eat a bit healthier. Go to the bookstore and buy nice cookbooks like ‘Ottolenghi’, ‘Plant Power’ or ‘Good Food’ and start cooking from them. Look, I really understand that it's fun to challenge yourself and my phone is also full of inspiration pictures of ladies, I won't name names (Tash Oakley ahem), but don't let yourself be driven crazy. I often say that to myself too.
- Make it fun for yourself. It shouldn't become a torture camp. And oh yes, you're doing it for yourself, right? Not for someone else. So you're not doing anyone else a favor either.
- So don't expect from yourself that you can immediately run 10 kilometers, stand on a machine for at least half an hour or lift at least 20 kilos. Just start at a low level and each time you climb a little higher.
- It's handy to lay out your sports clothes and bag the night before if you're going to work out the next morning. I do that very often too. Then I pick out my shiny running pants and t-shirt. Sorry, I'm really a sucker for nice sportswear. My closet is overflowing.
- Find a buddy. Together you are stronger and if you really don't feel like that crossfit class, but the other person does, there's no way you're going to cancel, right? And vice versa, so that's how you motivate each other.
- Vary your workouts, that keeps me motivated at least. Sign up for different classes.
- Choose a quiet hour at the gym. That makes working out a lot more enjoyable and fun.
– At every gym there are also personal trainers around. Don't hesitate to tap them to ask about some nice abdominal exercises. You might also consider getting an hour of private lessons. I understand that it's quite an expensive joke, but treat yourself to one such lesson. Even if it's just to learn some exercises from him (I assume you'll pick a nice guy) that you can do yourself afterwards. Personal attention is very nice and ensures that you push a little harder than usual.
