to have a long-distance BFF
My very best friend lives in Amersfoort and another very, very dear friend in Sweden. Of course, I would love to have them around me every day, but there are also advantages to such a long-distance relationship.
You can say anything about the people around you
A little gossip about your neighbor (I would never do that, of course) or vent your irritation about your mother-in-law. Your friend hardly ever sees these people, so the risk of her accidentally showing something to them is negligible. So gossiping without danger, love it.
You go on vacation instead of a night out
You visit her, she comes to you, or you meet somewhere abroad. I've already seen my dear one from Amersfoort (of course, I'm not going on vacation to Amersfoort) twice in Ibiza once in London, in Rome, in Turkey, and in Alicante. And I met my Swedish friend in Rome, and by now, I've had so many Swedish visits and Italian vacations together. Because of that, the memories are extra intense, and you always have adventures.
You tell each other how much you like each other
And you also cry when the vacation is over. How often do you do that with a ‘regular’ friend? Only if she is deathly ill, otherwise not really.
You send each other things
Cards, gifts when the kids have birthdays, a beautiful scarf because you thought it was so perfect for her, or an old-fashioned Christmas package. Sending might even be more fun than receiving.
It's always a party
Compare it to a love where you don't live together. When you see each other, the roof comes off. With our Swedish friends (because our men also fell in love), we drink homemade limoncello until four in the morning. And then get up at 07:00 to catch the flight...
You go to the nicest places
Because they know where you should be and have reserved the best spots in the category of anticipation at the very best restaurants.
A thousand things to tell
Because you haven't seen each other for a hundred years.
No daily irritations
Because your friendship is a great highlight, and you would be crazy to waste your precious time on nonsense.
