MY FAVORITE CITY RUNS

10 KM, SO THAT'S DOABLE!

I can imagine that “running a half marathon” might intimidate you a bit. And it is quite something. When I was training for the marathon (42 km), I lost my social life for about four months. Early to bed, no alcohol and sometimes you're three hours away from home just to train. You have to be willing to make some sacrifices. But to not set the bar too high right away, you can also start with a 10-kilometer run. That's really quite doable and you don't have to train endlessly for it. And even better is that you can just run again the next day and not crawl from muscle pain. Super handy, because then you can shop just fine the next day and treat yourself to something nice. 10 kilometers deserves a reward, right?

On Sunday, May 31 at 8:00 AM, a run starts from Bois de Bologne through Paris. It's wonderful to see Paris waking up while running in the early morning. For a starting ticket you pay 40 euros. Pay attention, in France you need a health declaration from your doctor before you can participate in a run. Just ask your GP to write down 2 sentences (‘Hello, I hereby declare that Jet is in good health’) with a signature. Just a small effort, but very important, because without it you cannot start.

On Sunday, July 12, the 10-kilometer run through London. I believe more than 25,000 people participate every year, and the city is completely turned upside down. The weather is usually incredibly nice during that period, so there are tons of spectators along the route, and they are also very cheerful. You start at Piccadilly and finish at the government building Whitehall. The money from your starting ticket goes to a good cause: Cancer Research UK.

On Saturday, May 16, all the girls in the Netherlands will come out to run 10 kilometers through the center of Amsterdam in the evening. This run is organized by Nike, and if you buy a ticket (30 euros), you also get a t-shirt that you wear on race day. I will definitely participate, and my training schedule starts on Monday to be able to run the race without injuries and quickly.

Here you can register.

On Friday, June 5, Nike moves to Milan to run the 10 kilometers with all the women. I'll be there too!

And if you're a real tough cookie, you'll fly two weeks later on Saturday, June 20 to Berlin to run the 10-kilometer-long Women’s Nike run there. Who knows, I might be there too!
