ELLEMIEKE VERMOLEN

is taking over Amayzine

I am still locked away somewhere on the heath where I am busy typing for my book. Fortunately, there is Ellemieke Vermolen who will feed Amayzine this week with her own recipes, sports tips, and a glimpse into her home. But, as always, first let's get to know her (even better).

Ellemieke, how are you?

‘Good! I am very busy. The recordings for the second season of ‘Vier Handen Op Eén Buik’ are currently underway. For the Netherlands and now also in Belgium. Furthermore, my second “Happy” book has just hit the stores.’

How nice, now also on TV in Belgium. Is it different there than in the Netherlands?

‘You really can't compare the recordings. The Netherlands is always quick quick quick, here (in Belgium where I live) everything is more gentle and relaxed. Time is really taken to have lunch for an hour and a half in a restaurant, for example. That makes me very happy.’

And your book, what can we read in it?

‘The book contains gluten- and lactose-free recipes. And then for every moment of the day: breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. You can also find a weekly plan or a few detox days. All recipes are on the table within half an hour. I found that important: it has to be simple.’

Do you always cook like that at home?

‘Generally, yes. The kids do get bread to take to school (that's how I grew up too), but preferably spelt or sourdough. You won't see white pasta or potatoes very quickly at our place. I just replace everything with a healthier variant. Oh, I'm not very strict, but we eat consciously at home.’

And what do you make after a very busy day?

‘I always have enough tasty things at home to quickly put something on the table. A zucchini pasta, for example, is ready in no time. I generally love simple and not spending too long in the kitchen. On weekends, when friends come over for dinner, my husband cooks.’

And do you let yourself be influenced a bit by the fit girls on Instagram?

‘Haha, no. Maybe that provides a bit of motivation to go to the gym, but I also always have the feeling that there is some trickery involved. I know many women in the sports field and getting a six-pack is almost impossible. You have to train very specifically and stick to a strict diet. That is top sport and that is not my priority.’

And what are you going to let us read on Amayzine?

‘I will share tasty shakes, healthy easy meals, it will be about food and sports, what you eat with kids, and I will also write a photo diary of a day in my life.’
