Okay, you can't become fit in one day but there are sports that you do for a few hours and where you feel muscles the next day that you've never felt before. Stand-up paddling is one of those sports. You stand on a surfboard and paddle yourself forward. When do you make those movements? Only if you're a rower, of course. But there are sports that aren't necessarily obvious, that are fun to do for one day, that get your heart rate up and provide an enormous workout., Stand-up paddling.
I just mentioned that. It may look a little silly, but it's anything but. May and I did this in Saint-Tropez and we are both sold. You stand in your bikini, so you also get incredibly tanned and you do an incredible arm workout (say goodbye to the chicken arms). At the same time, you also really engage your abdominal muscles. If you do it right, of course. And it all has to do with balance, which is good for the core. We are fans.
Horse riding.
You would think this isn't intensive. I did it once (and that was the only time) and then walked around for a week with muscle soreness in the inner thighs. It may not necessarily be a fat-burning sport, but it is very active. And try galloping along the beach, that's a real workout.
May-Britt and Liesbeth were.
Sailing
Put me on water skis and it seriously takes an hour before I can finally stand for a minute. They pull so hard on your arms (which you also have to keep tense at the same time) and it's important that you keep your legs stable as well.
Mountain biking.
And then off-road, preferably in the mountains. You need to have quite a bit of endurance for this and because you often ride standing up, your legs get an enormous workout and become very strong from it. Who's going to join me sometime?
