7 gift ideas to give someone
who is going on a long trip
This weekend I have a farewell party for a very sweet couple who are going on a long trip. They are moving out of their rental house, the car has been sold, as many pieces of furniture as possible are on Marktplaats, and two jobs have been resigned. The backpack goes on the back and off they go into the wide world. They will see what happens when they come back in 4 months. Extremely brave and very exciting, so that deserves an incredible big hug and a lot of “have fun” wishes. You can't show up empty-handed at a farewell party, so the group chats have already been created and the deliberation about what we are going to give them and what they will actually appreciate has begun. Look, a blank notebook is really nice, but we are a bit tired of that too, it won't ultimately go with them and is very obvious. I did a round on the editorial team for fun ideas.
For example, Liesbeth received a little notebook from one of her best friends before she went on her trip. Yes, indeed, a notebook, but a very special one because her friend had already written some things in it and had pasted in some photos. After 20 pages, for example, it said: “And where are you? I miss you!” Yes, that is really very sweet.
We're going to continue a little longer on the special notebooks because I once made a folder with a group of friends with all different envelopes that said: “Open this when you feel a bit homesick” or: “Happy moment? Look quickly in this envelope” or: “In love? We have advice, open me!” That kind of thing. It was greatly appreciated.
Our Josselin is an absolute beauty editor because she immediately had the “mini’s idea”. A toiletry bag with all nice care products but in small sizes.
I also think it's a very nice idea to give some money in the currency of the first country they will visit.
May thought it was a romantic idea to have towels made with initials on them.
If you also know which hotel they will be staying in, a bottle of champagne that is also a very exciting start to the vacation.
Someone also mentioned that it would be nice to make a kind of voucher for a fun attraction they can do. Skydiving, bungee jumping. Just to name a few.
