The attentive reader has seen Esmée from the blog Work That Es pass by here with us in the TGIF. Did you know that Esmée and I know each other through Twitter? We had a mutual friend but the spark between us only ignited digitally, with Sophia Tienstra as the third musketeer. But well, that's not really what this is about (although it is nice). This is about the sneaky pleasures of fitgirl Esmée and there are things in there that made me really chuckle. So Esmée, take it away!

What is your biggest pointless irritation?

“Waiting for people who are slower than me. It makes no sense to stress about it and yet I can't seem to stop. I'm super fast at everything, from showering to exercising. In my work, but also in terms of ‘make-up time’ in the morning. My whole life I've been waiting for everyone, I'm always on time for appointments and others almost never. You would think that's a nice trait, but it's super annoying for myself.”

Biggest addiction?

“The orange Tony Chocolonely, caramel sea salt milk chocolate. No explanation needed, right?”

What is your strangest trait?

“Do you have a moment? In every interview, I already mention that I don't like salad and that always gets quoted, so let me mention something else. I apparently do my laundry in a bizarre way: I separate so many types of colors and fabrics that I couldn't even name them all myself. I have a pink load, a gray one, yes really, a blue-green one, a jeans load, black laundry, and sportswear. And even my towels, bedding, and underwear all go separately. And then I have a collection of special detergents and fabric softeners for all those types. My boyfriend has two types of laundry; dark and light, and those can never touch my stuff.”

What is your sneaky hobby?

I spy on people on social media and can end up on the account of an old colleague's nephew's girlfriend. I also hate it when people have their accounts private.”

Do you have a hidden talent?

“I think it's something a lot of women do: three things at once. When I brush my teeth, I clean up with my other hand, comb my hair, and feed my cat Gerrit. When I watch a series, I'm also on Instagram, painting my toenails, and making a shopping list.”

Who were you a huge fan of when you were younger?

“Thank goodness I've never really been a girl who fell in love with actors or boy bands. I saved everything from the Spice Girls and endlessly performed my jazz ballet dances for my parents to Madonna and Jody Bernal.”

Do you have a catchphrase?

“I like to say every word that involves ‘God’. And so also Meine Güte or Christemezielen.”
