HOE JE JE HAAR DOET
Braiding is really the thing, although it remains difficult to create such a work of art yourself. Now I have already given you some tips last week , but hey, I understand that it all remains challenging. Well, not anymore now. Youri from The Building AMS is here to give you five bite-sized steps to get it done. And if you really find it very difficult, just visit him in Amsterdam because he can do it in a quarter of an hour in the Express Bar for €15.
Was it all a bit too fast? Here’s the detailed version so you know exactly how to do it yourself. Or rather, how you should do it. You’ll step out the door with royal charm.
Step 1 – Prep the hair
If you're going to braid, you don't want it to completely fall apart ten minutes later, making your effort pointless. The most beautiful braids are made with ‘styled’ hair. It can be a bit stiffer. Use a mousse and then dry it with a hairdryer.
Step 2 – Curls
Divide the hair into two sections. Secure the lower part of the hair for a moment. Curl the upper part of your hair. Secure each curl with a bouclé clip. This way, the curls have time to form, cool down, and then stay in your hair much longer.
Step 3 – Let’s choose
Decide where you want the braid. You probably have a preference for what you find most comfortable to wear or what looks best with your outfit. Tease that section and spray it a bit with hairspray. This will make that section stiffer and keep the braid in place.
Step 4 – Braiding
Now you're going to make a fishtail braid. That sounds very difficult, but you really need to practice it a few times. The basics: divide the tail into two parts and cross each strand over each other. And keep going like that. Don't forget that you really don't have to braid very tightly. It can be quite loose because the prep work will keep everything in place.
Step 5 – Finishing touch
Now release the top part of the hair and tease it with hairspray. Then incorporate that section into the braid. Ta-da, ready to fish. Uh, go.
