STARTING THE YEAR HEALTHY

4X juice bars in Amsterdam

I’m becoming a bit lazy and spoiled by my new bike basket. It asks for a fresh smoothie every day. Sometimes I even call ahead and order my smoothie so I can grab it right off the counter when I arrive on my bike.

I’ll share my favorite juice bars with you. If you come by around nine, there’s a good chance you’ll run into me.

The Cold Pressed Juicery

Not even a year open, but already hugely popular among Amsterdammers. And let this place be right on my bike route to work, so I often stop to choose a fresh juice from the fridge or I order a smoothie that comes straight out of the blender. The menu takes a moment to absorb, as they all have very special combinations.
The juices are made with a slow juicer instead of a regular juicer. This way, all vitamins and minerals are preserved. Normally, heat is generated during centrifugation, which often causes the juice to lose some healthy nutritional value.
By the way, you can also order delicious raw wraps and salads. Really for the die hard healthy fans.

Where: Willemsparkweg 8

My favorite: THE SH*T

Almond milk, banana, coconut flesh, tahini, brazil nut, cacao, dates, honey, maca powder, chia seeds, bee pollen, himalayan salt, and pepper. It’s a lot, but believe me: this is seriously the shit.

 Rein

A small place with a menu that you’ll want to try everything from. It can’t get much healthier, so order everything without worries. I just read that they are the official caterer for Fashion Week Amsterdam and they are already quite high on various hotspot lists of the city. You can order a smoothie there, but also take a moment to sit down and order a salad or gluten-free sandwich. Seriously, they are really tasty!

Where: Reinstraat 58

My favorite: Green Rehab

Cucumber, basil, apple, spinach, and ginger. Perfect for when you’ve gone a bit too hard the night before . Then you could usually use an energy bomb.. Lite/Dark.

This place is located in one of the nicest streets in Amsterdam. So if you’re in Utrechtsestraat, pop in at JAN,

, Look out, and Centre Neuf. Have coffee at the Koffie Salon and buy your smoothie at Lite/Dark., Marc by Marc Jacobs, The menu is mega mega mega large, so take your time with it. Besides the tastiest fresh smoothies, you can also order a delicious piece of banana cake, brownie, or quiche. All sugar-, gluten-, butter-, and dairy-free. Well, sometimes you do crave that, right?.

Where: Utrechtsestraat 22

My favorite: Number 130

Carrot, banana, dates, blueberries, raspberries, goji berries,

coconut, and guarana. Or number 210 with spinach, avocado, apple, lime, and basil.,

Also located in such a nice little street in Amsterdam. You can also buy superfoods here, and if you have a bit more time, order a spelt sandwich with avocado, tomato, and broccoli sprouts. The smoothie menu has all sorts of fun names like Dr. Popeye, Dr. Just Beat It, Dr. Phill, and you are helped by an incredibly sweet guy who always welcomes you so kindly that your day can hardly go wrong. Well, that might just be me. By the way, you can also follow a juice cleanse there.

Dr. Blend

Every day you take a bag full of fresh juices with you. Where: Herenstraat 23 My favorite: Dr. Mango Jango.

Banana, honey, maca powder, and coconut milk. This is really a treat, so incredibly delicious.
