Wannabe

I felt anything but a healthy fit girl this week, as I must admit that the drinks have flowed quite generously. Now I can drink (and enjoy) quite well wine, but I just can't handle too many days in a row. Yesterday I was completely off it. And then I always advise everyone to go for a run and such, but even that I couldn't muster. The only thing I really do every day, no matter what, whether I'm hungover from the night before or lying in bed at 10 PM after a yoga session, is the following.

Morning ritual

I always start with fresh lemon water and ginger tea. Then I take a few drops of vitamin D for my breakfast. I seriously swear by that. Vitamin D it's mainly about sitting in the sun, and the sun makes people happy. Without the sun, there are fewer happy people, that's just how it works. Look, it probably has a bit to do with my mindset, but I call them happiness drops.

Then I always take fish oil for my daily intake of unsaturated fats and to keep my blood sugar levels stable, so I don't crave sweets. Additionally, I also take a multi-vitamin for some extra vitamins and minerals. It's an addition to my daily diet. Of course, I get most of my nutrients from food.

Green monsters

How many green smoothies I must have drunk in my life, I think you could fill a jacuzzi with them. I make them more often at home to save a bit, as my spending on shakes outside was getting out of hand. Why I haven't invested in a juice bar somewhere, I wonder.

Good idea

I also often receive photos from friends who then very dutifully add: “Look Jet, I'm super healthy.” Our sales director Danielle blended the leftover food from the previous evening this week. Green beans, spinach, a little extra fruit, and you really have a very healthy shake. That the straw stood perfectly straight in the glass was a bit concerning, and whether it was really tasty she didn't dare to say, but I thought it was cute.

No smoothie without coconut water

I received a box of Vita Coco at the office this week, and that always makes my heart skip a beat. I always pour a splash into my smoothie for some extra moisture (then the straw doesn't stay perfectly straight, you know). The new flavor Vita Coco Lemonade is mega delicious and very refreshing with a lemony taste. It's also nice to make a lemonade from it. Take a large pitcher with ice cubes, squeeze in a lemon and add that, cut some fruit of your choice (peach, raspberry, blueberries, all fine) and top it off with coconut water. For a warm day, a lovely summer drink. You can choose whether to add a splash of vodka. Ahem.

Luxury salad

I have written before that I would love to have more hours in my day to cook more often. After a day at the office and then some sports, I don't always manage to cook as well. Salad bar SLA and Venkel have a good deal for me. The salad from SLA with little burgers made of goat cheese, beetroot, corn, and black beans is now my favorite. And actually, I really want to make them myself, just like coconut macaroons, buckwheat crackers, and carrot cake. I should set aside a Saturday for this.

Best chicken

I ate this week for the first time at Café Lennep. Amazing: chicken with homemade applesauce. You can also order a hamburger or a vegetarian dish, but they are known for their chicken, which is also happily rotating on a spit in the middle of the place. It's really a bistro, so it's especially fun to go with a large group. In the summer, there will be a terrace by the water that I'm really looking forward to. I asked about the wine list: “That's me!” answered a really nice guy in the service. Well, I thought that was so nice.

Best Saturdays

Do you know that? That you start with a late breakfast (in my case with a coconut/chiapudding), look at each other around two in the afternoon to see if the wine list will be asked for, and then you’re still sitting there at 8 PM, two bottles later, and decide to have dinner as well. That happened at Bar Spek, you know, my favorite. Maybe also because my dear friend Merel is in the service and it’s actually a kind of living room for my friend group. I believe I ordered a taxi around 1 AM, because even biking was no longer a good idea.

See you next week

Forgive me for this week and prepare for an über duper healthy next post. Not a balance day, but a balance week.
