JOSSELIN DOES BACKSTAGE FASHION WEEK LONDON

– The warm welcome at Paul Smith –

Yesterday I told you about my backstage visit to Preen. This backstage visit was on exactly the same day. My eyes were now wide open, because Fashion Week means hustle and chaos and I just went along with that rush, so I momentarily forgot that I had been getting up at a quarter to 6 for three days. All good. I have now arrived at Paul Smith and it is yet another huge adventure.

Backstage At Paul Smith it was a tad smaller than at Preen and also just a bit more chaotic. At least, that's what I thought. In reality, after ten minutes I realized it was very different because it was not stress and chaos, but more a cozy chat because everything was running perfectly. Mr. Paul Smith himself apparently had all the time in the world because he gave me a personal tour backstage and front row, allowing me to explore the location perhaps longer than the average visitor.

Make-up artist of M.A.C Cosmetics Petros Petrohilos also took the time for me and went into detail about the look he had created for the beautiful models. The idea was a bit of the beauty of the thirties, where the eyebrows were strongly drawn in thin lines. Those thin lines remained, but he left out the rest of the thirties looks (so no lipstick, rosy cheeks, or golden eyes) and went for a fairly natural appearance. This translated into a natural fresh look with water weight foundation, a bit of cream blush, and natural lips. The brows, which are of course totally inspired by the thirties, and thank God they didn't actually pluck the models. It was all just mimicked with a fine pencil. It resulted in incredibly cool looks that definitely stood out on the runway but still had a touch of now. Or actually a touch of the thirties in a modern jacket.
