To craft for Mother's Day
That I occasionally lock myself in my workspace (according to Liesbeth: called the crafting corner) is because I find it so incredibly fun to put something together. I liked it even back then, although I don't know if mothers were always very happy with the little vases made from toilet rolls and cookbooks that were still wet from the paint. But well, we are a few years older, wiser, and more creative (ahem) and because it is so much fun to do and we secretly all become happy from an ultimate cozy moment, I just dived into Pinterest to gather some cute sweet ideas. Because yes, mothers naturally prefer to receive something handmade and showing up with a bunch of flowers just won't do anymore. Enjoy!
THE PINBOARD
Mothers always keep lists. And I find such an agenda on the fridge quite ugly, so just take care of a good alternative yourself. These are just cork coasters. You stick them together at the back and make a nice shape out of them. A few pushpins, maybe some nice photos (because mothers attach enormous value to childhood photos) and you can't make a better impression.
, bows,
I always provide each gift with a label. I like it and actually, it doesn't matter what is in the package anymore, because the outside distracts enough. Pay attention to the label. Write or stamp the name nicely, pretty ribbon, nice tape; nothing can go wrong.
Vouchers
Since many mothers already have everything and you might, like me, have already come up with the most standard gifts in recent years, a voucher system is a nice gift. A voucher for doing the groceries once, a voucher stating that you will cook for her once, a voucher for a nice beauty salon. Oh, name it. Mothers will definitely be happy if you have crafted some nice vouchers together. And she will probably lose them anyway, just like all those other gift cards, so the chance is high that you never have to bring those gifts to life. for her cooking, a voucher for a nice beauty salon. flowerpot
The garden center is being raided for gifts for Mother's Day, but you can just craft this yourself. Okay, this gift might take some time, but it's definitely fun. A bowl of water, two jars of nail polish, and a stirring stick are enough. Dip your flower pot in and you create an incredibly cool effect.
stamping
You can make stamps from potatoes (knife, potato, shape, and just cut) and dip those stamps in the paint. It doesn't get simpler than this and you can just press some things onto paper or fabric. Hearts, for example. A frame around it and your Van Gogh 2.0 is ready.
vases
I think this is an incredibly cool idea. You can make vases from those copper pipes. You drill a hole in it (at the top, because otherwise the water will flow out) and put a string through it. Voilà. Oh, if you want to be extra creative, dip it in the paint.
coasters
When I think of coasters, I immediately think of elementary school. Because that's where you crafted that. But with these coasters, you first go on the computer to find the coolest font to type a nice message, print it out, and stick a plastic layer over it (just, those sleeves). Paint splatters on top and it gets even better.
vases
Incredibly easy, incredibly fun. Buy simple white vases, spray them with some spray glue, and sprinkle the confetti around. A little flower in it and done.
tea candles
I have two interns here who were incredibly happy with this incredibly sweet gift: a teacup with a candle in it. At the thrift store, you can find the cheapest but very cute nostalgic crockery and you melt old candles. Pour the candle wax into the cup, let it cool for a bit, and you have a new candle. Costs you nothing, the idea is nice, and you make your mom very happy.
