NOW A WORD ABOUT ALIMONY

Dear Christina Pensa,

I read on Nu.nl that ‘Ruud Gullit's ex’ had had his house and bank accounts seized. Now Ruud has many exes, but it turned out to be you, Christina Pensa. I think you have been apart for 20 years, but apparently still intimately connected.

Ruud allegedly has not paid child support for your children for two years.

Of 24 and 21. You may have different rules, but isn't it about time your children started working for their own money? It would amount to 140,000 euros which is a sloppy 6,000 euros a month. Come on now. Leave the man alone.

I find the phenomenon of alimony extraordinary. Of course that man has to help pay for raising your children, but why are you legitimised to hold up your hand? I should really laugh out loud when an ex-spouse dryly claims ‘she's just used to this standard of living’ and really, really, really needs 20,000 euros a month.

If my company goes over the top, my shares are suddenly worth nothing or I've been incredibly ripped off by someone, there's no gate anywhere I can knock on, is there? Too bad, bad for you, be glad you had it.

Of course, I understand that you might want your children to grow up in the same environment, but you no longer sitting in the front but in the back of the plane? Big deal.

Call me a feminist, but I think it is quite something to ask money for yourself from a man who was once your lover. If you asked for a bill in exchange for years of being together, you had the oldest profession in the world. And that was not your intention, was it? Find another man who accommodates you out of love, surely leave that ex alone. Especially after all these years. And you know, dear Christina, a self-made designer bag tastes a lot better.
