OMG THE GEL NAIL IS BACK
When I worked in television a long, long time ago all the girls in Hilversum had fake nails. And so did I. Those huge, square filed stubs that were so long we had to type the numbers on our mobile phones with a pencil., Once every, what shall it be, two weeks you would go somewhere three stories up to a nail salon where the smell of chemicals welcomed you and you sat waiting for an incredibly long time under a drying lamp.
Actually, everything in life became more difficult because of those nails. Making your bed properly for example (try using a three-centimeter nail to stretch your sheet over your mattress) or even inserting a tampon suddenly became a hassle.
Moreover, it was an expensive and time-consuming hobby (not to mention what happens when such a huge nail breaks) so I waved the flag, hung on lamps, and danced until dawn when the short nail came in. Just file it down where your finger ends, put a noticeable polish over it, and you were done.
For the past five years, I have entered the perfect nail era because I am too reckless and too impatient for long nails. But I saw a long acrylic nail popping up here and there again.
