HOw to stay in touch with

I've been going on about it all week; I'm debarking the Amayzine ship. And the worst part about leaving is that you're going to miss the people you leave behind. You spend eight hours of your day with your colleagues, you grow fond of them and you don't want to lose touch. Your bonding is a good reason but keeping in touch can also be a smart move career-wise. An ex-colleague tipped me on a great job vacancy once or maybe your former manager will want you aboard when starting at a new job himself? But how do you do it? How to you stay in touch?

Send a card

Are you the kind of person who sends Christmas cards to family and friends? Well, put your ex-colleagues on your list. This way you won't forget them and you'll remind them of your thoughtfulness. Not into cards? You can do the same by mail, a Christmas or New Year's greeting. The same goes for birthdays so don't forget to take down the dates of all the people you like.

Exciting events?

Keep people up to date

Are you getting married, moving to a new house or are you pregnant? Let your old colleagues know about it. It's not about putting yourself in the picture; it's a great opportunity to exchange experiences and reconnect. Maybe it will result in a fun gathering, a little cocktail party. On the whole it's nice to keep people up to date if you got a promotion or a new job, especially your old manager, whom you can thank for teaching you all that you know. Very sympathetic, don't you think?

Keep them informed

Do you come across articles that might interest your old colleague? Send it to them by Email with a note: “ thought this might interest you.” I often see things that I think might interest Jet. It's fun to keep doing this even though you don't work together anymore.

Dear Amayzine colleagues, reader and Frits (the plant we have on loan): lots of kisses for all of you. And I promise to send you a card!
