When I mentioned the name Martijn Lakemeier here in the editorial office, many hearts skipped a beat and when I gathered questions to ask him, they were mainly about what kind of ladies he likes and how he charms someone. Unfortunately for the girls here, Martijn has had a lovely girlfriend for four years. But luckily we can go to the cinema from October 15 to see him play in the new romantic comedy “Yes, I do”. A role he has never played before, let's ask him how he feels.
Martijn, how are you?
Good! I am very busy. Yesterday I was still in the studio for the final touches for the film “Yes, I do”. The press days are starting now and in the meantime, I have also started filming a new feature film.
You play Daan in the film “Yes, I do”, a role that is quite different from what you have done before.
Indeed, I am used to a lot of drama. Now I had to prepare for a romantic comedy. I found that quite challenging because I had little material to read up on. I couldn't do any research on the person I was playing.
But did it work out?
Yes, definitely. During the filming, I even noticed that I resemble Daan a bit. A bit lazy, a lot of partying. But there were certainly moments when I was insecure. The intention was that girls would find me very likable after seeing the film.
The film is about finding love. You have had a very nice girlfriend for four years. How did you charm her?
Oh, that was a long time ago. We already knew each other from the hockey club, but got to know each other better at graduationparties. We danced around each other a bit, I made some silly jokes and we started making some bets. She lost, so I had to fry an egg for her. That's where it all started.
There are of course hordes of ladies who adore you.
No, it's not that bad with the girls. Seriously, nobody knows me.
What are you wearing to the premiere?
No idea yet, definitely a suit.
What are you going to do this weekend for some relaxation?
Hanging out with friends at the pool café.
And what kind of music do you like to listen to?
I think I'm very late to this, but I discovered Typhoon yesterday.
What time does your alarm go off again on Monday?
Early. At 7 o'clock, then a new shooting day starts again.
And then I'm still a little curious? How was my brother Kees as a director?
Super fun. In fact, it was one of the main reasons to do this film. I really wanted to work with him. We really did it together. For both of us, it's a bit new. I even gained a friendship from it.
