The skin of Snow White
– the beauty trend in Asia –
As you may have read and will read much more about, I found myself in Asian vibes last week. It was incredibly fun, it was incredibly special. Because that world is completely new to me. Including all trends and beauty habits that are just a little bit different. Now, I am quite used to the beauty industry with all those launches and new looks, but one trend I found quite exciting and interesting. One of the biggest trends there is 'whitening & brightening'. Everything revolves around a very.
radiant skin . Of course, our ears perk up at a radiant skin, but the Asian ladies, and occasionally a gentleman, approach it a bit differently. We Europeans all make a huge effort to achieve a. sunkissed glow on our faces and therefore stock up on self-tanners and bronzers to powder that effect even in winter. Those bronzers are not selling like hotcakes there, because Asian women prefer a very white and smooth face. Think geisha, think Snow White, Whitening products are very popular in Asia. It's slightly different from bleaching products that really lighten the skin, because whitening products work against pigmentation on the skin. It comes down to the same thing, because you won't get color from it, but whitening is a tad healthier and the Michael Jackson effect won't be cultivated so quickly. The skin remains more even, looks younger, and the chance of getting a tan is minimal..
The products come in all shapes and sizes. From scrubs, then you know for sure that you remove all color from your face, to a mask and from whitening treatments to daily creams. They even have BB creams with a whitening effect. Last week I was in a.
department store as big as the Bijenkorf where they had dedicated an entire section to this trend. I became extremely curious due to the magnitude of the trend and the enormous range of products. I have to disappoint you. I bought a product to test on a.
few pigmentation spots but after a few days of applying, I naturally see no difference yet. I don't need a very pale skin, because I have of course done my utmost to finally get some color in my face. However, those pigmentation spots bothered me immensely, so that has become my plan of action. I am now extremely 'trying and testing' and soon you will see if I am the new Snow White or if I am still going through life as a speckled panther., As you may have read and will read much more about, I found myself in Asian vibes last week. It was incredibly….
