5 unexpected Asian beauty tools
Now that I've immersed myself in the Asian world I obviously had to dive a bit into the beauty world as well. Now I'm here with two incredibly beautiful and fun Asian girls who could obviously tell me all the ins and outs. We did this in a tiny, but overcrowded street where you almost tripped over all the bulging beauty shops. But well, those Asian beauty traditions and tools, I'm going to tell you about them, who knows you might learn something or get some ideas.
Okay, that's not very unexpected, but for all those ladies, eyes are incredibly important. Seriously, I've already been stopped on the street three times because they wanted to look at my eyes since it looks like I've walked out of an Asian comic book as a manga character. And they're really not that big, so I just find it super funny. But with a eyeliner they create a very tight line to fake it all. We do that too, but here you can really buy eyeliner on every street corner. And preferably at Daiso, because there it only costs a few dollars and lasts all day.
A double eyelid is immediately worked away. With a little tape, of course. But really, the eyelid is just immediately taped up. It's basically double-sided tape, and according to the girls here, it gives you enormously big eyes. It just looks a bit weird because the tape often comes loose due to the heat... Another way to work away the double eyelid is to put on a kind of glasses. They don't do that outside, though, but when they're relaxed on the couch. It's a kind of massage device that pushes your eyelid up. Let's just hope it stays like that after a while.
Sorry, everything here revolves around the eyes. So also the fake lashes are not to be missed here. You see really hundreds of types and sizes everywhere. Asian ladies often can't wear mascara because their eyes aren't that deep and the hairs are very straight. When they do put on mascara, it smudges everywhere. And the weather doesn't really help either. Fake lashes with lots of glue do work, though.
Asia is of course where nail art comes from. We've also taken a bit of that over, but here it's really in an exaggerated state. Diamonds, glitter, bows, feathers, it can all be grand and spectacular. Preferably also very long.
The face rollers are also incredibly popular here. You have massage rollers for a thinner nose, a narrower chin, oh, whatever you want. You place the massage rollers against your face, make all sorts of movements throughout the day that normally remind you of something else, and then just hope that the chin indeed becomes a bit narrower.
