Amayzine

It is, after Instagram and Whatsapp, my most visited app. It's called Followers + and if I can give you one piece of advice: stay away from the fire. Your life will never be the same.

My best friend had it of course a long time ago, Jet, being the trendsetter she is. “Da fak (sorry, that's how we talk here at the ‘redac’). A childhood friend just unfollowed me. We went on vacation together for years and now this.” As always, she took action, emailed the young man, and asked why. “Why? I'm just not into ‘green juices’.” Okeehee.

Initially, I felt ‘too old’ and ‘too wise’ for this app. But when I had more than 10,000 followers, I still wanted to know exactly how many followers I had (and not count by hundreds), so I also fell into the trap of Followers +. And whether my life has become much more fun…

I was also unfollowed by a freelance colleague we often hire. Why?

Let me explain what the Followers + app is all about. It's like the AEX of your Instagram account. It counts your average number of likes per photo, your total number of likes, your followers, your ‘ghost followers’ (those are people without an active account who like to lurk at us Insta junkies). The logic of Followers + is not entirely clear to me, because sometimes my popularity score can drop by 0.007, but my fame score has increased. Anyway, it all seems highly entertaining until you click on the button ‘lost followers’. And that, dear Amayzine friends, can be shocking.

So someone from a PR agency unfollowed me, with whom I thought I had a very good contact. Moreover, it seems to me that if you work in PR, you would want to be on good terms with me and therefore follow me. Even if you find it boring. I was also unfollowed by a freelance colleague we often hire. Why? You want to keep an eye on us if you belong with us a bit, right? A ‘famous’ friend was unfollowed by someone who had just submitted an interview request to her. You understand, she brushed off that interview.

Why would you block me? You can just ignore me.

The Followers + app can give you even more sleazy information . But you have to pay for that. Yesterday I gave iTunes the go-ahead again for €1.99 to see who blocked me. That's one person. Why would you block me? You can just ignore me. It's not like I'm stalking this guy or anything. I had never heard of the best man. There are also people who have liked a hundred of my photos and then go and ‘unlike’ all those photos. Why? It's just that I saw this in this app, but otherwise, I really wouldn't notice that a photo suddenly has 373 instead of 374 likes. And that person is probably sitting there sweating and steaming while ‘unliking’.

Meanwhile, Joss has also joined Followers + and we regularly hear her shout “but why?!” Then we immediately know what time it is. A known person has unfollowed her. Or unliked. Or whatever.

If I can give you one piece of advice: stay away from this app. Your life won't get any more fun.
