Last week I described the order of applying. Did it help? Well, here comes the continuation. Because you may have a toiletry bag full of fun stuff, but if you don't know how to apply it or if you do the order somewhat wrong, it can have disastrous consequences. No, seriously. You don't want any glitters on your cheeks that actually belong on your eyes, and you also don't want your foundation flying all over the place.

Primer

Yes, I know, I had already mentioned it as the last step in the skincare ritual, but actually, it's also immediately the first step in the order of your makeup. A primer is essential. It has active ingredients that are nourishing, keeps foundation in place for a long time, and is a fix for the rest of your makeup. Another big plus is that it prevents an ultra shiny face.

Foundation

There is some confusion about the order of the foundation and your concealer. What comes first? The answer; first you apply the foundation and then the concealer. You apply the foundation with fingers or a brush, whichever you prefer, but you avoid the area under the eyes, because there, foundation is often way too heavy. No, then I really refer you directly to the next step.

Concealer

Dark circles or red spots are easily concealed with a concealer. And no, you don't use the concealer like a brush. The skin under your eyes is very thin and needs precision. Dot some spots and then blend them out with your fingers. Works best.

Powder

The base, you set with a powder. Use a large powder brush to set everything, but keep it as transparent and natural as possible. Powder is also nice because it reduces the chance of shine.

Bronzer

Bronzer gives your face structure. You often apply it right away, because this way you can indicate the depth in your face well and see where you need extra dimension and where not. Often you work together with a highlighter to create the real 3D effect.

Blusher

It's not bronzer or blusher, it's actually an and-and situation. With a blusher, you simply give a healthy flush.

Eyes

The eyes, there is of course also an order. It depends on what you want exactly, but usually you first do an eye primer (so you don't get those lines of eyeshadow on your eyes), then your eyeshadow, then an eyeliner and as topping of course the mascara. If you apply it in a different order, there is a chance that the eyeshadow will stick to the lashes. You don't want that. After your eyeshadow, grab the large powder brush from point 4 and sweep away any eyeshadow glitters.

Brows

Many people do the eyebrow first and then the eyes, but it's actually more convenient to do it the other way around. If you have a bold eye, you can make the brow a bit more subdued. If you go for a neutral look, then the brow can give a bit more body to your face. First color in with a pencil, then the powder – it stays on longer – and fix and fine-tune with a brow gel.

Fixing spray

You've done your best to build everything up in layers, but if you really want it to stay put, you finish off with a spray. A kind of soft and liquid glue that adds an extra layer so that your makeup can't go anywhere.
