This is how you survive a hot summer day
– 6 tips to be the princess of the terrace –
A a summer day is of course really fun, but melting makeup, smudged eyeliner and super sticky lipstick do not seem to belong to that list. Even if you sit on that terrace for hours tonight, you still want that fresh makeup from the morning to be flawless on your face. So voilà, here are some tips to look fresh and fruity without this warm weather working against you.
Always a primer
A primer is quite a must with warm weather. Prefer a mattifying – Smashbox has a very good one! – so that no drop of sweat gets the chance to affect your makeup. Everything stays neatly in place.
Bronzer!
A bronzer makes your eyes look bigger, your teeth whiter, and brightens up everyone who has barely seen the sun this year. Now, you shouldn't immediately grab the big powder brush to enthusiastically dip everything, no, you should do it in moderation. An Oompa-Loompa can appear quite quickly around the corner. Makeup artist Troy Surratt suggests that you best apply a dot on your nose, forehead, and chin. Also use a powder bronzer. Because with warm weather, cream products are never very handy. And powder stays nicely in its place. Oh yes, also powder a bit on your neck, then the transition to the white arms and legs is a bit less harsh.
Light makeup
Besides a bronzer, keep your makeup very light. Swap a foundation for a good day cream. Do you feel too naked going through life? Then mix a little powder foundation into your moisturizer to give it a bit of a tan. By the way, it’s really a myth that you don’t get tanned with foundation on. They are often so thin that those sun rays really go right through. Extra nice is of course a moisturizer or foundation with SPF. You are immediately protected. It is indeed a myth that you are protected in the sun with a layer of foundation on.
Try color
I think now is the ideal time to try out some color. Besides that it looks super summery, bright colors also give the face a bit more glow and often make the skin look younger. If you find it all a bit exciting (look who’s talking), then choose one spot. It’s either the apples on the cheeks or the pink lips.
Shine and glow
Shine is different from a healthy glow. Glow comes from warmth and a glow is a perfectly placed extra. You want that last one, you don’t want the first one. If you are a huge heat creature and thus see a drop from the above tips lying on your skin, then blotting papers are your solution. Occasionally dab and everything is wonderfully matte again. By the way, another nice tip is a mattifying sunscreen. A little protection can’t hurt, because after a few rosés you will definitely look a bit redder in your face and you probably have no idea that the sun is burning quite a bit. Opt for a special face sunscreen. It is often a bit more matte and less greasy, which looks charming on a terrace day.
Be careful with a lot
I already told you that you can best keep everything fresh. But if you really can’t do without a bit of color on your lips or eyes, then don’t use cream-like products. It all gets a bit sticky, sits between the lines on your eyelid, and it just looks ugly. Well, sorry, I can’t describe it any other way. If you really want to use something; then you can best choose tinted lip balms with an SPF in it (ha, also protects) or a cream base under your eyeshadow.
