That you can both have a very different kind of love for beauty is proven by opposites and Amayzine's beauty editors Coco & Josselin. Where one screams ‘full and striking’, the other says ‘subtle and small’. This time foundation has to compete against BB cream. Bring it on, girls!
BB cream vs foundation
Coco: “Two-in-one products are undoubtedly very handy. Still, I find it annoying when something is already ‘mixed’ for me in advance. That suddenly the chef cuts your steak or your friend decides what you wear. I want to do all that myself, right?! So I prefer to use my trusted day cream and my carefully selected foundation. That way I can at least choose whether I want to go for a heavy pancake face or not. Sometimes I actually feel like that, believe it or not.”
Three foundations that make Coco's beauty heart happy:
- Infallible 24H-matte from L’Oréal is a nice soft product. It gives a matte effect (perfect for the glimmers among us) and the coverage is not too heavy. A nice everyday foundation that lasts a whole workday. At least you come home looking somewhat presentable.
- SuperStay Better Skin from Maybelline is a wonderfully covering foundation. If you have a drier skin, you'll be happy with this slightly greasier product. No tight feeling but flexibility, yes indeed!
- Beyond Perfecting foundation + concealer from Clinique is my favorite. If you're going for a complete disguise, then this is your new BFF. Say au revoir to pimples, dark circles, and moles.
Josselin: “I prefer to be done with my makeup in three minutes in the morning. Look, I can pretend that I always look very natural, just like a Parisienne, but secretly I really have tools for that. Those tools conceal the wrong things and accentuate the positives. Without it looking too thick on top. So I prefer a BB or CC cream. Light, easy to apply, and a small chance of a mask effect.
Three BB creams that promise what they say:
- CC fluid with P-CL-E is a CC cream that has a caring effect and contains a tint. Maybe the shade is a bit more intense than you're used to from a CC cream, but it spreads well. P-CL-E is the star ingredient of Biodermal and works problem-solving on small skin issues. CC-Fluïde with P-CL-E, €29.99, Biodermal, www.biodermal.nl
- My favorite among the CC creams is the one from Estée Lauder. Very light, incredibly easy to apply, and really has an amazing effect. It contains color beads that burst when you apply it. This way it blends into the perfect color of your skin, keeping it very natural. It also wipes away all fatigue and spots in one go. Revitalizing CC Cream, €59, Estée Lauder, www.esteelauder.nl
- 3. If you have an impure skin, it's best to choose a BB cream from Vichy. Foundation is not handy in that case, as it clogs the pores, but the BB Normaderm from Vichy actually works on impure skin. It corrects, mattifies, and makes the skin shine again. It also contains ingredients that are very caring. Normaderm BB Clear, Vichy
