THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF HAIR TRENDS
Every now and then, some press releases come in or I see some photos passing by that make my eyebrow suddenly raise a bit. Amazing. Trends are fun, but sometimes they are just incredibly crazy and I don't understand how they can become a worldwide success. Also in the field of hair. Purple hair; I could somewhat understand it, the pixie cut; not for me but it made quite a few women look really pretty and wet look I still find it a tricky one. But these five trends I really can't understand and probably won't understand either. Do you?
Hair tattoos
Indeed, those things you normally stick on your body you now do in your hair. After a wash, they are just gone again. A bit of a festival vibe, but I think it can also work well as a fun decoration around the holidays.
Tattooing hair
Theo, our creative marketing intern, used to have an afro and now belongs to the billiard balls of the world. Not bad, because he is still incredibly handsome and nice, but I can imagine that the transition is a tiny bit big. The solution (are you reading this Theo?) is tattooing stubble on the bald spots. Then it all looks a bit fuller. I find it a rather bizarre and somewhat painful trend, but hey, I can imagine it takes away quite a bit of male frustration.
Glitter gel in your hair
I really think this is something from the past, where you painted those stripes in your hair, but now it's just all over the place. You just go through life totally glittering where you don't create the wet look with a normal gel, no, you do that with glitter gel. Quite special. Fun for a party, but I see no addition to the Monday morning look.
Man buns
The male bun is of course incredibly hip and that's why they are responding to it with the clip-in man bun. Seriously, a clip with a bun on it that a man can slide into his hair. Now I already find it quite serious when men start buying hair accessories, but this bun is so incredibly neatly rolled that it looks even more unbelievable.
Plants in the hair
This trend is slowly blowing over from Asia where they clip plastic plants in their hair. Yup, we live in the time of #sprouthair. The idea is that it looks like a bean stalk is growing straight out of someone's head. All to compensate a bit for air pollution. Good idea, but a rather idiotic execution if you ask me.
