Summer haircut
Five times the most beautiful summer hair
At the tropical temperatures of this week, we have a sort of uniform in the editorial office. Everyone is wearing a bun in their hair to avoid showing sweat droplets or getting that dirty sticky hair. So actually, there are five Josjes working in the editorial office. But hey, since that bun is really my signature , I’ll give you a few ideas to achieve summer hair in a different way.
Braid
Braids always work well. You can be sure that all your hair is out of your face and stays that way, and Elsa did it, so that says enough. If you have very, very long hair, you can also braid it upside down. Hold your head upside down and braid upwards. Bun it up and you’re done. Sounds easy, but practice is definitely needed, although I can tell you that it doesn’t have to be perfect. A messy braid can also be very nice.
Wet look
Seems like a logical step. Your hair is probably already sticking due to the sun, so brush it back with a bit of wax and it won’t fall in your face anymore, and if a sweat droplet does come through, it won’t be so noticeable.
Twist it
Definitely one of my favorites after a beach day, because your hair is already a bit stiffer from the salty air, so this style is a breeze. Especially handy if you’re not so great at braiding. You twist your hair strand by strand and secure it with a bobby pin or elastic. If your hair is way too smooth and healthy, spray some beach spray in beforehand, it makes it a bit stiffer and it won’t fall out so quickly.
Ponytail
With a ponytail, at least your neck is free (and feels fresh) and you can go two ways with it. If you choose the Kim Kardashian then it’s super tight and sleek but you still create some volume on the head. Eva Longoria is the best option for beach girls whose hair is already curling nicely, and this way you maintain that undone effect.
Hair accessories
There’s always a middle ground. If you have a fringe (which I’m a big fan of), then that’s not so handy in the summer. With a cute headband you can easily work it away. The rest you can just let hang loose or put up in a bun again. Here we are back at that bun, huh?
