Amayzine

Then suddenly there was a magazine…

(IT JUST HAPPENED TO US)

In the thick (sorry; ‘full’) two years that Amayzine has existed, I have lured quite a few magazine friends to our digital nest.

First there was Josselin, with whom I worked eight years ago at La Vie en Rose (remember, the most beautiful magazine ever). And then there was art director Daphne, also a La Vie offspring. When things were going well, I wanted to do more fashion, so you understand I was over the moon when Simone Dernee (years my fashion director at Marie Claire) said to me: “I’m going to do it, May. I’m going to do it.”

Of course, we had to seal Simone's arrival with a fashion series. And not just a snack, no, she wanted five models (thanks, Touché Models), a top photographer (thanks, Carmen Kemmink) and oh yes, if we could also transform the studio into a dinner setting for ten people.

Our sales colleagues drove to Amersfoort for the right lamps, shopping editor Lilian emptied all the PR agencies, Daphne's husband (yes yes, everyone was involved) built fitting rooms and assembled pipes where Simone could hang her outfits, and so we were all busy with it.

But just throwing such a series online felt a bit disappointing to me. So the idea arose to give the series a little jacket as well. With a cover and a foreword and some practical shopping pages. And beauty, we wanted that too.

So Josselin, who was already quite busy, booked her beloved (who happens to be a photographer, super handy, all those partners) and went to town with glitter, Chanel eyeshadows, black lipsticks (sounds scary, but bet you’ll want this later?) and of course sequins.

In all our eagerness, we forgot to book Robin, our website builder, to put the whole file online. But Robin is Robin is Robin, so I received an email yesterday that he already had my Christmas gift. The magazine was online.

Admittedly, it’s a bit tricky under the tree, but I couldn’t have wished for a better gift. And neither could you. Voilà!
